Any leads on a 246 side view mirror? NOS thanks
If he is looking for a round mirror, as far as I know, the correct round mirror has a smooth back side. I have a round one with stamping on the back side. I was told this detail was incorrect but the only difference from an OEM mirror. Perhaps this is what they are referring to. I know Dino's were supplied with a few different versions over the years.
Do a search, I have a post here in the Dino section that shows the difference between the $80 repros and an original. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185043
Had a recent Orginal from my 72 Dino (spare part)which I sold recently . The mirror was called a Talbot. There were 3 varities if I remember, but for the most part all Dino's I ever saw had the simplist which was just a slight conical mirror ( chrome) mounted on a chrome base and was adjusted by hand movement where it mounted to the base. The slightly more expensive Talbot 's which many early Ferraris used including some Dino's was more elaberate and was very conical . The more expensive Talbot sold for 32.00 in the early 70's. This type is reduplicated today. Varities used on Cobra kits etc. Talbots were also used on variety Porches eary days, but not the Dino type but close except for the bases. Most Marques had a variety of mirrors almost an after thought. Many Dino's esp European had no outside Mirrors. For some reason have not seen the common Dino mirror reproduced or sold in the early days. Used to make inside Mirrors for 356 C 's and most don't realize this mirror was a dead ringer for the Ferrari 275GTB. Made mirrors as was obsessive cause couldn't find a good orginal for my restoration project. That was a real waste , but I got the nicest inside mirror around and currenly have 5000 inside plastic tabs laying around if anyone needs one for sale.
