I will need to give my 246 wheels a refurb soon.

Does anyone have the correct paint code, number or name of the colour?

    Thanks,

I asked this question myself and the guy who should know told me to use any silver wheel paint. I used Griot's wheel paint that requires a clear coat. This is high quality German paint in a Mercedes color. Looks great! Its called silver wheel paint and non-yellowing clear lacquer. If you use this product be sure to fully cure the silver before applying the clear. www.griotsgarage.com 800-345-5789.

    What prep/primer did you use?

Griot's "kit" comes with a can of zinc chromate primer, IIRC.

Just don't strip to metal, the factory sealants are most likely still ok...my 1977 wheels still shined, on the tire mounting 'bead' face!

I have not gotten to the front side finishes yet, the backsides were grooved when the tire machine slipped!
