Hi all, There is a seperate arm at the base of the chrome handbrake lever on the 246. It has a splined shaft which locates in a female spline, which also acts as the pivot point for the handbrake lever. The additional secondary arm is the component that the handbrake cable attaches to. I have had the misfortune to snap the splined shaft (that's welded to the side of the secondary arm)....... Does anyone have one or know where I may be able to source a replacement part? Thanks in advance!
These are almost identical in many ways to Fiat 124 handbrakes. There are several on Ebay now new and used.
Same thing happened to me in my GT4.I tried tig welding it but it sheared again.I had a machine shop make one up for me in high tensile steel for about $40.It hasn't broken yet and this was about 3 years ago.I have also since learned the proper way of adjusting the handbrake and therfore not needing Arnies arm to engage the handbrake. Also as a side note as mentioned they are identical as the Fiat 124.I think the plastic grip may be a little different but you can simply reuse your old one
