This car arrives at US Customs this Friday.

I am trying to reconstruct as much of the history of this car as possible prior to offering it for sale. Below is what I was able to gather so far, most of which came from www.dinoregistry.com.

Any additional assistance would be warmly welcomed.

    Cheers,

    Bill Noon

    Year 1971
    Make Ferrari
    Model Dino
    Type 246GT
    Chassis No. 02538

This was one of just 1623 Series III or “Type E” Ferrari 246 Dino GTs completed from 1971-1974.

It was a standard production “European” model and believed delivered new in color code “20-R-190” or “Rosso Chiaro” (Ferrari Red) and a standard black interior.

The “Dino Registry” (www.dinoregistry.com) holds five data base entries on this specific car:

The first is from 1988 when the car was with Bruce Trennery’s “Fantasy Junction dealership which at the time was located in Berkley, California.

The car is identified as a standard production, left-hand-drive “European” model without power windows, no air-conditioning and five-Cromodora wheels. (Standard delivery configuration.)

The car was painted red with a black interior and the car was California Road-Registered on plates “1MDT811.”

The 2nd entry from the registry is from September of 1988 from European Auto Restoration in Costa Mesa, California. The car is confirmed to be owned by Trennery/Fantasty Junction and listed for sale by them.

The 3rd entry is again from Fantasy Junction and was recorded in June of 1990 identifying that the car was sold for $105,000 to European Auto Restoration.

The 4th entry on this car is again from European Auto Restoration and states that the car was offered for sale by them in June of 1990 for $120,000. It further identifies that they sold the car on July 16th, 1990 to “Yamamoto.”

The fifth and final Dino Registry entry on this car is from from Masami Yamamoto in 1990 identifying that he was the new owner and the car was going to his collection in Tokyo, Japan.

The car has remained in Japan until its recent purchase in March of 2008 by Symbolic Motor Car Company of La Jolla, California.
