Been looking at pics of 250 cabriolets / options / colours. Amazing how many different combinations there are / side grills, covered headlamps etc there are. Having wasted a load of time looking at car porn I thought I would do something vaguely constructive and post a small medley on here. Feel free to add

the 2nd and 3rd pictures really illustrate the 250 pf cabs enormous rear trunk area. just too long and out of proportion imho.

I like that. It's like the back of a Riva - Although I wouldn't want to sun bath on it at speed...

Photos of the black SII on Highway 1 really show the best side of this design. I love that looooong rear deck.

I'm not opposed to the long rear decks on these. I think its what gives the car its elegance.

Is there anyone who prefers SII over SI?

I'm in 2 minds, I think it depends on the angle. The S1 looks more sporty but it can also look a bit squashed

I do like the lack of the 1/4 window in the S1 though. I guess this was introduced to improve the seal with the roof.

I personally prefer the back of the SII though, the SI look a bit corvette with the sharp fins - not that I have anything against corvettes just not to keen on fins but realise this is a personal thing. The rear light is nicely introduced into the fin however

Interesting question, looking at the photos above of a series II car the front of the door lines up with approximately the middle of the dash and finishes in line with the back side of the seat. Looking at a coupe the front of the door lines up the same but the back of the door extends about 6 inches past the back side of the seat. So it appears they are shorter but I do not have any measurements to back it up.

    Cheers Jim

Suppose the longer doors of the coupe is for access to the luggage shelf.

I believe I lean on the series II side. It's the first of the two I became familiar with.

I was comparing, the door of the coupe is longer and taller. The Cab has a thinner waistline and has those "hips", just aft of the doors. Interesting, how two similar cars can look so different.

I'll measure my cab. door later today and post the length. Any chance you could do the same with your car?

I'll use the crease in the bodywork as the measuring point (see below).

    Cheers,

I've taken the liberty of moving your pictures about - and you are right. The doors, no the whole cars, are very different.
    Who knew?

When measuring my car I discovered, to my shock, that the left and right doors are the same length! Very un-PF. Must have been made during the equinox, or something.

Cool. You can really see the differring door length in the pannel around the rear wheel. The section between the wheel and the door on the coupe is much narrower. I wonder if other pannels on the car differ. Obviously the rear wings, Assume it has the same bonnet and front wings? Boot lid?

Yes Jason, all panels are different, but the hood and trunk may be interchangeable.

Seems to me, if you draw a line from the top of the headlight to the top of the tailight of the cabriolet you'll have an "S" curve. If you do the same with the coupe, you'll have an arch. This, and the shape of the flanks, should make the front wings very different.
