Here is an interesting 250 GTE. It was once sold by Fantasy Junction: http://www.fantasyjunction.com/archive.php?id=962d9adac0b58bdbe12f1ff2de9ad74b Special features according to FJ: - hood scoop. - different air vents in front wings. - rear bumper. - steering wheel. Fantasy Junction says it is a 1963 model and it was once owned by Wayne Sparling, director of N.A.R.T. Barchetta.cc says it's a 1962 model and the first owner was a Mr. Baikowski: http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/4047GT.250GTE.htm Does anybody know more about this car? How and why did the car receive its special details? What's the correct year? Etc. This one's come a long way since it had gold star mags on it. Interesting features but I'm not sold that all are original. The side vents really seem out of place on the car, I believe they're fibreglass and I just can't see PF doing that in 1963.
While Wayne Sparling used to work for Chinetti/NART as a mechanical genius and sheetmetal wizard, he would be the first to protest that he was not a "director" as stated in FJ's description. (He was far more important than that implies.) Wayne is doing well, retired in a secluded Florida hamlet, and still brings out some mouthwatering Ferraris every once in a while, as at this year's Cavallino. Wayne is one of the few guys who can put window tinting on a 250 PF and no one will say anything about it. Wayne is truly one of the nicest and most unpretentious people you could ever know, and a genuine part of Ferrari history. Jack
