I bought 250 GTE #2853 in 1969 for $3000.00. Drove it a lot around the S.F. Bay Area and sold it in 1971 for $3000.00. Used the money to buy our first house. The guy I sold it to still has it. He drove it around the U.S.A. for 20 years but now it doesn't run and needs everything, motor, interior, body parts, paint, the works. His son wants to restore it. I used to visit him every ten years to look at it and enjoy the stories. Memories.

BR: Personally, I am not a fan of the Series concept, but that is my own personal crusade. I hope to straighten that out when I get the database more fully developed. However, the good news is that the database could care less what I think and can pull that up quickly.

    Protoypes: 1 of 4
    Series I: 81 of 300
    Series II: 83 of 350
    Series III: 56 of 300

Now this does point out a minor flaw in my thinking. I believe that all four prototypes exist, but I now see that they haven't been checked in a while. I would think we all would have heard if one of them had sold. I will check on that soon, however. Anyway, maybe that 221 should be adjusted to 224.

Laserman21: Can you check on that? I have not heard from him in quite a while. If he does, we may have 225!

And Todd: 3447 still looks wonderful. Thanks for the pictures.

Thank you for this Tom. Exact or not it completely answers my original question......... I was just thinking, wouldn't be great if someone bucked the trend and parted out a 250 SWB to create a 250 GTE.......only joking

Does anyone have photos of these 2 conversions? I have seen the models of the GTE convertible but not sure i've seen photos of the actual cars.

Guess I should step up as well! Here is 4247 GT (White) just out of the Paint and Metal Shop. It is sitting next to 2169 GT (Burgundy).

Anthony Blumburg was having 3167 GT restored at Terzini Motore in Brighton, Melbourne, Australia. Does this shop look like the one in the photo? Don't know who bought it after him.

No, this photo was taken in Brisbane. Mr Blumberg fell foul of the law and I have no idea what became of his car at Sandro Terzini's. Will be interesting to discover.

It has been pointed out to me that 4003 is no longer a GTE, but is a well known Melbourne based 250GTO replica. Sorry, my oversight.

Tom this may sound like another question you don't want to hear but how many of the 224 are in the USA?

And just to frustrate things a bit more how many by series are in the USA..

Also I just got a ton of more info on my car 3547 along with pictures of a proper body off restoration. And the exact color it is now painted is Rosso Barchetta.
