    Does anyone know the current location and possible the name of the current owner of 250 LM #6007? The car was listed as being in Japan in 1983 but no record since then.

    I got it right in the title line but did not get it right in the text of the posting. The car I am trying to find is 250 LM #6107...not #6007. Sorry!

    In the late 1990s I was in Japan and tried to buy it at that time.

    It was owned at that time, by a man who "owns it right", and doesn't "need the money". It will require overpaying to get this-IMHO, the 2nd or 3rd best LM of the litter...

    Incredible, original-ish patina...a running, and tracked car...a still green hued transaxle...
    There was a Cobra Daytona coupe, an alloy 4-cam, an SC cobra, yadda, yadda, yadda, also in the wherehouse... at THAT time.

    Most, but NOT ALL, of the "big" cars have been sold off as markets have gone into orbit....as is frequently the case, he sold in an up market, always hearing that "the piece" changed hands again-almost immediately thereafter-for substantially more...the end result is: the gnawing sense of "having left too much money on the table", hence the astronomical ask for any subsequent "big" cars being chased...

    The owner is a charming, nice, "real car guy".
    Good luck, bring cash, and lots of it!

    So as far as you know, #6107 is still in Japan and owned by the same person?

    Yes, it is....tbomk...
    FYI, at the time, 1.5-2M bought a piece of gold...it would've required the first # to start with a 3...it was June 1998...{I checked my notes and pics...}

    The story is basically this guy from Ecuador buys the car as short nose,
    somewhere it gets changed to long nose, then short nose
    At one point in 1975 some rascally Americans borrow it without permission and screw it up in a test drive
    and he sells it for $25,000 to Rob Lamplough who resells it six months later. My question is : was that price a deal at the time? It was cheaper in '66 when Steve Earle (founder of Monterey Historics) offered it for $14,500. Is that his asking price or what he sold it for?

    It has been so long since the '70s I can't remember what they were going for in '75. And then, too, it was damaged at the time. I can't call it a barn find if that was about par for the course at the time...

    Anyway for those who don't have Forza at their local newsstand, the story is on the net
    at The Lost Years | Issue 151 | Forza
