....a little confusion - 5909 was not at mototechnique but at juicebrakes ....my fault
Perhaps it has been covered in this thread already, but what is the s/n of the 250 LM that took part in the Coppa InterEuropa 1992 (# 29, Lindsay Owen Jones / David Piper)?
This one had a rough day at Le Mans Classic this summer. Driver said it was his fault: he got distracted in the Porsche curves: not the place for that... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've seen the car at LMC in a much better shape! Badly damaged. But hey these cars were made to race, better than all those garage queens imho. Tom
I agree 1 million % Tom! What made me sad at Le Mans Classic was a mini concours area: it looked...obscene and nobody paid any attention to it all weekend even though there was a GTO in it. best regards, Marc
Christian was there too with the 250GTO 4153GT, nice car but I like it better on track. But thats the choice of the owners, I repect whatever they do with it, but if one asks for an opinion what would I do: RACE THEM!
I was on that run when Ken Starbird fell into the ditch. It looks even worse than I remember. Didn't Wayne Sparling rebuild it?
If you compare the rear engine cover to the other LM's (first photo below), the last rebuild of 6173 has done terrible things to the wonderful shape. Interestingly if you look at the car after the 1972 accident (second photo below) you can see the rear engine cover was like other LM's and thus this current shape is not because this car was always unique in this area. Somebody has to fix this ... please . Pete Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pete- You are right. It looks like part of a bloody station wagon (estate). Lines totally gone. A crying shame. At least all the parts are there to do it right at some time in the future. Taz Terry Phillips
Who or what tells you the owner doesn't care? Evidenced by the posted photos the car has undergone quite some remedial work in the past, and in order to make it correct- looking again, needs quite a bit more. I imagine that an almost complete re-body for a 250LM runs into a very high figure, and I can't look into the owners' wallet. Nevertheless, the car makes appearances and is hopefuly raced, which is more than I can say about a lot of the other LM's.
+1 Waiting for the next prang and can fix that while he's in there? That'd be very much in the tradition. Would it not?

Somehow I always liked the yellow stripe on this car. Didn't it run around with Dubai plates at one time? Is there a colour pic of it in its' current colour?

Could be the angle or the missing chrome, but to me something looks odd with the windshield of that car.
