okay - same stable as 5879. i have seen both cars side by side in 2001 in the turning wheel collection. Mr. St. asked not to publish the pics we made.

    You mean 5897 (not 5879).

    Dear Gentlemen,
as you know in the storic photos of the #21 winner of LM, are little mudguards on the rear body.
But they are not in the car in the Indianapolis museum, may be that is not the real car?
It is a strange thing to loose those little details!
    Thanks,
    Greetings,
    Alex

Not really unusual to lose things like that if the back end was damaged and repaired/remade in the days before there was such interest in preservation of period detail.

When it drove at Daytona 1966 the mudguards were already gone.

Photo on the recent book "ferrari au Mans - 1961/1967" by François Hurel, page 84.
    Le Mans 1965 :
5 LM at the start : #5893 (Nart, 1st)red and long nose, #5895 (Maranello concessionnaires, DNF)red-blue and short nose, #6023 (Ecurie Francorchamps, DNF)yellow and short nose, #6313 (Ecurie Francorchamps, 2nd)yellow and short nose, #6119 (Scuderia Filipinetti, 6th)red-white stripe and short nose....thus, who's this car, all red with short nose ?

The fact that this car was present in the paddock does not mean it was raced. It may have been used just in practice or not at all, just being brought there to be delivered from one entitly to another for example.

Just the other day had an interesting conversation with a mechanic in San Antonio, Texas, and he was telling me of a guy from Mexico who had quite the collection, and drove a 250LM daily? Saw a picture of the car in his shop when he serviced it back in the 80's, was a red one. Said the owner also had several pre-war Alfas as well.

Any info on the car? Where is it today?

Ha the guy I was talking to told me some crazy stories, how they would race the LM and a 275GTB along the road outside his shop.

Dear Gentleman's, do you know any source to see the geometry of the front track of the 250 LM?
The rear is full exposed but the little space open in front of the car let see only coolers (water&oil I suppose).
    Thanks
    Alessandro
