1083GT is featured in a book earlier mentioned in this thread, "Ferrari" by Rainer W. Schlegelmilch, Hartmut Lehbrink & Jochen von Osterroth, Page 102 - 107. Some great close up colour shots of the car and a reasonable history too. Argento
I don't care what anybody says, these are beautiful cars. Hard to believe they are thought of by many, as less desirable cars.
Yes John, That's the car...53rd PF to be built and shown at the 1958 London Show, Kare is also correct it was originally Bianco with Nero Leather. (I do know who the owner is but cannot divulge to the public) Argento
My search for a picture of 1751 brought up this thread. I just speant a half hour reviewing it. It's still my favorite! Regards, Art S.
My first time reading this thread as I saw it tonight. I brought up the question of where the car that is s/n 1751, it's history and it's where abouts, today. Fascinating reading of this thread and Peter's Family Pictures thread! Great archives and history amongst it's Owners and Historians. From the revelations of the Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina's value today. I should have lied about my age and bought s/n 1751!!! Such is life. C'est la Vie. Ciao...Paolo
A friend sent me this picture which is from Automobile Quarterly, Volume 1, No. 1. Does anyone know the S/N and history? john Image Unavailable, Please Login
John Already updated the Register with the new one. Good find When are we going to unleash it on a desperate and demanding public ! Darren.
Hi Darren, I have copyrighted most of the remaining MM photos. I will send them to you in the next few days. Maybe early next year... john
Beautiful car. I think the 1940s and 1950s Ferraris are substantially better looking than the modren ones, but that's probably because I'm an old fart.
RE: Automobile Quarterly, Volume 1, No. 1. 1. Looking at the original picture: script below the Pininfarina badge appears to say 'special'. 2. The picture caption reads: '1958 250/GT 2 Posti coupe' 3. There are interesting pieces on Phil Hill and Luigi Chinetti in this issue.
Yes, it does say "Special" below the PF badge. Other details are the bumperetes, polished metal door sills trim,, special door handles, Ferrari badging spelled out with a prancing horse on the nose (similar to 1003GT), an enamelled Ferrari badge and PF script on the trunk lid. The car also appears to have a "non wood" steering wheel (plastic?). Interior is a mix of leather and vinyl. T308 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Funny. Other than the Series I Cabriolet bumpers it looks pretty standard. Thanks for posting this photo. john
In trying to find 1959 Ferrari 250GT Pininfarina Coupe Speciale #1751, What a fun search and to the people and places it has lead. Most of the dialogue has been in the "Old Family Ferrari Pictures", Thread and in the Rocky Mtn. Region Area, Posts, if you would want to read the posts. During the search I was informed by one of the previous owners of #1751. that there is an earlier Sister Car #1121, that also had faired headlamps, but no side-grills in the front fenders. #1121 was also a Michigan car, according to Ron Hetherington, #1751's previous owners. How do I find this out? I have doing searches and nothing on #1121 yet. Anyone know the whereabouts of #1121, and it's history? "1121GT had covered headlights and was located in Michigan but no side vent, no bumper uprights, and the side marker light was located in the "B" piller on 1121 and in the front fender on 1751GT." Cheers, Ron Hetherington Ciao...Paolo
In that picture the bumpers and lower chrome belt below the doors really makes the car look shorter. It looks fabulous.
More views of Wax's coupé special 1958. Ferrari badge is there, on the trunk lid instead of the front. Sterring wheel looks normal but seats are interesting, as the dashboard you may see behind the gear level. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The seats are different and the exhaust snaps are also more ornate. One more thing, the placing of the parking lights are off to accomodate the bumpers. john
What are those seats from? I know I have seen them in a significant car but i'm having a brain freeze.
