Whats the difference between the two cars? They seems aesthetically almost identical.

The are one and the same.
Passo Corto (Italian) = short wheel base (English)
Passo Lungo (Italian) = long wheel base (English)

It appears to have become fashionable in recent years to use the Italian 'Passo Corto' when describing the swb variant.

Yes, in the current issue of Cavallino there's an article about the cars in the Tour de France, and they are refered to almost exclusively as passo corto. Seems to me to be a bit of an affectation, especially after decades of calling them SWBs.
