My packard 440 wires are fine but my end terminals need replacing. I presently have an end that is shaped like a dogs leg. Is this original? What type (straight?) and brand do you advise? Also was wondering what plug is best for street driving? I used to use NGK now I'm on AC. My engine is a normal 61 comp motor with 9.4 comp and 40 DCL/6.

The original ends on a 250 SWB are straight with black rubber insulators.
NGK plugs work best for us, B6ES.

    Thanks Brian
On the same topic: A number of people have used an extra washer/spacer on the sparkplug because of interferance with the head - what do you know about this?

If you decide to replace the wires I used these:

I am running the smae spark plugs Brian mentioned and running similar wire & ends on my gt4 and have had great luck. Even though the wires look good sometimes it is nice to get new ones, checking the attchment to the distibutors etc. Dont forget to fold over the wire where the screw goes in as it inhances the conection.

Can you post a pic of the car?

With the NGK B6ES you shouldn't have to use an additional spacer or washer when installing the spark plugs.

We use the extended tip plugs (NGK BP6ES) on the later cars (330's), but the ground electrode sometimes fouls on the cylinder head casting on the 250 motor.

I would caution you about using a spacer, as this changes the heat path of the spark plug and may cause it to act as a hotter plug.

Another good source for Ferrari wires is www.kingsborne.com Also good for parts too, like the plug ends. I am uncertain if they carry the correct ones for early Ferraris, but they do have them for the later Ferraris (Beru brand connectors). Incredibly reasonable prices for such high quality product.

Beru uses Souriau connectors. Deutsch connectors are also of high quality, too.
