You guys are confusing me here. 0716 TR and 2493 GT---two separate cars, yes? I'm only confused because i see pics of two separate body styles in a thread that was originally about a TR; and 2493 looks similar to a 250 GTO to me.
0716 was rebodied to look like a GTO "back in the day" At a later point in time the "GTO like" Drogo body was removed and a regular TR body was installed. The removed "GTO like" body was installed onto 2493. So the "GTO like" Drogo body has sat on 2 different chassis. Jeff
So, per "that other thread", does sn 2493 suffer all of the same slings & arrows as all the other "recreations/replicas/clones/fakes"; or, because it was done before some of you were born, does that make it acceptable on the Vintage forum? Only partly tongue-in-cheek; it would be helpful to understand where such a car fits in the spectrum from OK to not-so-OK....
I think 2493 looks great. It's so not a GTO, it kinda looks like a bad attempt from one perspective, but it has it's own character. Jim, any vid of the TR in action?
I had an information that a 250 TR is going to attend Concours d'elegance in Belgrade, Serbia in September. Apparently it is this car: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/dmjdino/250tr.jpg From what I can see in description it claims to be Dubbini's car, e.g. s/n 0716TR. However, I'd say that it definitely isn't the car that belongs to Mr. Pope, as there are several differences. Actually it seems to me that earlier in this thread are also pics of two different pontoon fender cars. I see that this link mentions second car, refused to take part in Mille Miglia in 2001.: http://www.barchetta.cc/english/all.ferraris/detail/0716tr.250tr.htm Could anyone put some light into this mystery? Are here, as too often they are, two cars claiming the same title? Image Unavailable, Please Login

Quick TR question. Should there be a stamp somewhere on this magnesium cam cover that pertains to a car? Or are they without a number? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wrong MM, every ORIGINAL valve cover has the part number inside even the family engine name is inside 128A-F etc. C.
Splitting hairs. My answer referred to a possible chassis number. Not to part numbers. Marcel Massini
This is an original cam cover though, and it does NOT have any marks (maybe I'll clean it well and brush it) but I cannot make out any stamped or imprinted numbers or letters.
Hmmm... that photo was taken at Vasona lake in Los Gatos CA not Southern CA . Launched my sailboat there many times as a kid.
Interesting to see the car before the Neil Twyman restoration in 2004. They did a lot of work to the Fantuzzi body including the addition of the vents to the bodywork that were there in period. Amusingly the front wing scoop provides ventilation to the driver as it was hot in Buenos Aires even without a roof. Picture taken at Goodwood copyright - Tim Scott Image Unavailable, Please Login
How did this thread come back from 2012? Damn. Anyway, its an excuse to share more photos! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sir Michael Kadoorie's 0728 TR, the 1958 Le Mans winner. Refurbished after the Brandon Wang Tour in July 2014, for Pebble Beach August 2014. Marcel Massini
She sure was a looker. The lineup of TR's was just amazing! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi.. I don't normally post here as the vintage Ferrari's are way beyond me. But I am no less enthusiastic about them. I have a question thou.. I have two books on classic ferraris and both have no coverage of the 1958 TR.. Why?? I don't understand. Even I bought the model car when I didn't know much back 25years ago..
Without knowing the titles of your books my guess is they deal with the odd sn street/road cars There are copies of Joel Finn's book The Ferrari Testa Rossa V12 in paper back on the internet for a very reasonable price. It tells the story of this car and a lot more. It's a great read. tongascrew
