I wanted to loo0k up its racing history. Incidentally back in the early 70s, I tried to follow the FOC on one of their canyon runs in a then new Firebird T/A which had the power and cornering to keep up with the Ferraris on the twisty bits, but after 5 minutes the Firebird puked its power steering fluid...and I DNF'd.

B&V restored #0812 and #0814 together in the early 2010s. #0812 had been rebodied as the Ken Starbird special in the '70s for a New York Motor Show but was otherwise "original". #0814 was the car famously crashed by Coco Chinetti Junior and caught fire, ALL AT ONCE at Mt. Tremblant in '66. Its unclear what was left, but it can't have been much. Chinetti owned both in '99 and they were shipped to Italy during the nadir of his relationship with Ferrari who promptly went to court arguing both must be scrapped. They weren't and eventually both ended up at B&V. #0812 was a relatively simple resto, #0814 anything but and before the end of the massive project #0812 was sold to California where its believed to be in the Jacob Loe collection, #0814 retained and shown at the family friends, Simeone collection with other Chinetti cars.

I knew the history of those two cars (and of 0816), which is what made me curious about which car it was.
    Could be 0810(?).
I know AW has sold a lot.
When he got 0810 in ‘87 from Don Fong in Atlanta it was a literal basket case. If there’s a new owner they could be re-restoring or making any perceived needed corrections or spending money for a C-word restoration.
Will be interesting to find out.

I read somewhere that #0814 was being classiched, no idea if true but maybe they are demanding a whole new job?

I bet it is 0810 (but I see many new panels)
0812 and 0814 were restored by Marco Baldi of Protauto in Sorbara iirc

In todays litigous world restoration shops run a huge risk refitting 60+ year old suspension, steering and brake parts. Should any of them fail during testing or actual racing the shop would be on the hook for a sizable lawsuit.
I save all the original pieces for the client and install new parts which are safer. The same holds true with anything magnesium which doesn't age well.
The only reason to restore the original parts is for static display in a Museum.

Why not 0812? A few years ago, the chassis was on display at the MEF Modena.
