Bill Tipton and I have finally found someone to remanufacture distributor caps, points and rotor arms for our 250s that were fitted with Lucas Racing Distributors. There were very few Ferrari road cars fitted with these and parts are impossible to find. My search has taken me all over the world to no avail and finally through some long-winded communications on both sides of the Atlantic we are onto a company who can do it.

If you know of any 250 owner with Lucas distributors can you please let Bill or I know and we will coordinate an order for a small run of parts.

I have posted some pics of my distributor, cap, points and rotor arm on the PF coupe discussion - http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86199&page=18.

Did you ever make any of the parts for the Lucas racing distibutor?

Have you tried to find suitable replacement caps for these distributors, though they may look different?

I wonder if Roger Wills saw thru this endeavor, I believe he sold the car a few years ago.

Incidentally, as rare as these distributors are, their performance cannot be up to par with the standard Marelli units. The points work twice as fast and twice as hard in the Lucas.

How far down on the drivers will you have to go to retrofit Marillis?

John: The drives from the cylinder heads are unique to the Lucas units. So you need both the distributors and the distributor drives to convert to Marelli.

The point is original equipment. Ask Tom how much a pair of these babies goes for.
