Bought the car a few months ago from F-Chat, it's in storage until I move in November. Finally got a weekend to fly out, see it, and start working on some minor stuff.

    Fix rust on doors
    Refurb rear bumper
    Refurb front bumper
    Radio delete plate
    Steering wheel
    Shift knob
    Ash tray refurb
    Make license plate frame
    Fix/ charge AC

Then, took it to a local car show the second night. Good fun.

Door rust. First job was to fix the rust at the bottom of the doors.

Removed the bad metal with a grinder, put encapsulator on, filled with combination of West Systems stuff and Rage, sand, more Rage, more sanding.

Then, on to paint. First with high fill primer, sand w/ 600 grit. then sealer primer and finally red. I used single stage to match the rest of the original paint. The PO had some paint that was a late 90s Jag color, Phenix red I think. It's a perfect match to the 25 year old Rossa Corsa.

It came out great, by far the best paint on the whole car. All that's left is some 2000 grit and polishing the next time I'm out there.

Same as the rear, it looked bad. same sanding and paint. Then, I drilled the shocks and pushed it in till the mounting bolts hit the frame.

If anyone wants the procedure, PM me. I'll leave it out of here since it seems pretty unpopular. I definitely learned some things to make it easier and faster next time.

The turn signals are still out as both needed major surgery to be saved.

the original wheel didn't look too good. I wanted to keep it, but even at $500, the refurb wasn't going to look original. So, I opted for a new Momo Monte Carlo.

It's very similar. The size is exactly the same. the black center is identical in shape, but the Momo logo is very slightly different. The leather seems the same, but the stitching is black instead of white. The rim shape is different: no finger bumps all the way around like original and the Monte Carlo also has thumb bumps at 10 and 2.

overall I like it. and can't beat the price.

Yes, I need some new bolts I know. The old ones look even worse with the fresh wheel.

The stock shift knob looked 25 years old. I love my DD's Voodoo so I bought one for the 308 as well. It's great.

The ash tray was the only part on the console that looked bad. There was some rust under the emblem. Removed it, took it all apart, polished and painted everything. I used SEM trim black to paint it. The amount of gloss seems just like it was before, I think it's right.

I was thinking about getting a new emblem, but maybe that's as good as they ever are, even when new??

The window switches don't look too good in the picture, I just got a new set from T Rutlands that are waiting for install.

Not really worthy of a post, but it was on my list.

Every plate frame I could find was chome. I wanted black so I made my own design: anodized frame + white vinyl sticker.

Thanks, I sent an update to the QV register with my info right after I bought it. I guess they're just a little behind.

Thanks to F-chat, I repainted my old emblems rather than buying new ones. they came out great.

Removed them with fishing line, soaked in lacquer thinner, light sanding with a scotch brite pad, repainted with gloss black spray, then white paint pen from Joann's craft store, then a few coats of clear.

Your car looks great. Almost a twin sister to mine except for the tan inside. Mines black inside. I did alot of the same things you did. Enjoy the car. Looks fantastic.

How did you access the nuts that attach the 308 emblem. The last time I looked, mine had a fiberglass panel on the inside of the rear cargo area that covered the nuts. I understand the fishing line removal for the quattrovalvole emblem.

The 308 nuts are behind that fiberglass panel. At least on my car, there's really nothing holding that panel in place except the carpet. it's easy to remove.

When I was pushing the rear bumper in, I noticed the trunk floor was loose underneath and hanging down. Ouch, once I got in there, it looked like a shark had taken a bite out of the thin tin covering the frame rail on the left side rear.

So, cut back to good metal, put encapsulator and rust stuff on everything, made a new piece to replace it from al and riveted it in. Filled in all the cracks with goo and reattached the trunk floor. painted the other side and sealed it as well.

nothing else is rusty, the trunk floor must have leaked at some point.

my center/ windshield rear view mirror was bad. The glare switch was broken and made it basically unusable. Seemed like replacement 25 year old versions were about $150 or more and not all that nice. I got a universal model at AutoZone for $15. The 8" size is just right so the visors still work.

I don't have much of a picture so here's just a random pic of the car.
