I'm trying to figure out what's missing on my '81 Mondial 8. When I look down through the hood vent I can see the top of the battery, so it's exposed to the elements. The parts manual shows what looks like a sheet metal or fiberglass assembly with a gasket "Lid for Battery" #60641500, but I can't tell if it's part of the fender-to-fender bulkhead in front of the spare tire or a separate piece. There's a snap on the frame around the battery. Is there just a removable cover that I'm missing, or more? Photo below. Thanks!!

Good news! The hot start problem is solved. The PO replaced the fuel pump with the new style that doesn't have a check valve. The Yoda of CIS fuel injection, Larry Fletcher, sent me the part number for a check valve from AZAutohaus and sent me parts and instructions for making a new banjo connection pipe from the pump to accumulator. Worked great and I'm on the road! Thanks Larry! -Reid

It is a separate piece of bent and partially painted plexiglas.

Here's what I did today. I picked up some plexiglas from my local Lowes (2mm) and used the drawing to make a template out of file folder stock. I tried that on the car and made a few adjustments, then transferred the template onto the plex and cut it out (would have been easier with the proper blade) I used a couple of pieces of baseboard molding sandwiched in a vise to support the plex at the spot where it needed to be bent and heated it up carefully with a hot air gun. Then I fit the piece on the car and made the rounded bend at the bulkhead and adjusted the angles a bit, and painted per the drawing. I still need to glue on a piece where it fastens to the battery box. Mine has a snap, so I'll probably use a flexible piece of rubber or something like MB-Tex with a snap, bonded to the plex at the end. I'll post another picture of it in the car when I get it sorted out. The top cut is a bit wavy, but it will be covered by a gasket. I'll probably sand it straight anyway because it bugs me. Also need to radius some corners, but it's coming together. Ferrari no longer makes this part, so this will do for now. Thanks again for the photos and drawing. They were a BIG help!! -Reid
