Call off the dogs! After a fruitless few weeks of hard searching, I gave up on securing a pristine 275 GTB/4 and purchased a very nice '62 disc brake 300SL roadster instead. Fairly high miles but exquisitely redone, Black Pearl paint with Silver hard top and Grey interior. Deal is being done today, car on a transporter by Monday. Will post pics when all the new kids arrive (365 GT 2+2, 300 SL and the 77 308 GTB.
on the 275 but on the 300SL. Sounds like you are going to have a packed garage! From pics I thought you only had bays for four cars (with doors on two perpendicular walls, right?) Or do you have more garaging? You'll like the 300SL, but in a year or two you better start looking for a 275! (It's my fave.)
The reality is that I'll never stop looking for a 275 or a Lusso for that matter. I have tons of space for cars (i'm a real estate developer and there's always something empty that I can use), and I'm about to build another "accesory building" as the town council would have me call it, which will house another 6 vehicles.
nice car, congatulations, BUTTTTTT i prefer a 275GTB, i'm sure you'll get one. greetings, vincent, and have fun with the Mercedes.
98,000 total, approx 10,000 since a complete engine restoration approx 1992. The car is a driver, perfect for classic rallies like the Copperstate and other 1,000 km trips. I'm not familiar with the restorer but the car is in excellent condition. here's a couple more pics
I'll incur some people's rath for uttering such treasonous words but the 300SL is the equal to the 275GTB/4 in terms of its importance; and I think it's as beautiful. Well done Alex! Enjoy it and your other beautiful cars in good health!
