In my restoration of 275 GTB 08669, we discovered the drivers side front headlight bezel was damaged and poorly repaired. The choices are to repair an bad repair or to purchase a quaility relacement. I have been told by some suppliers that they are not available anywhere. We were also sent one by a supplier which turned out to be for a GTB 4 and not a long nose 2 cam. Anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase one?

Robert: Are you talking about the oval trim ring that holds the plastic cover or the Carello round ring that holds the light housing?

I am referring to the oval chrome bezel that holds the plexiglass cover ; not any retaining rings that relate to the headlight buckets or the headlights themselves.

I am pretty sure those surrounds were specific to the individual car, so you are looking at getting one made.

I would absolutely have one fabricated. If you can find one already done you will need to have it fitted. In the long run it will be easier and better to find someone who can fabricate it to you car.

I had one made and fitted to a short nose years ago. The guys at the old FAF in Atlanta did it. As I recall they used two trim rings which were cut then sodered togethered to get the right fit then lightly chrome plated. Reguired quite a lot of time.

The original trims are brass chrome plated. Brass work hardens very quickly. if you buy some NOS ones they will absolutely have to be modified to fit your particular car and to alter the brass ones is nearly impossible. The brass is also very hard to weld and form should you need to do some major fitting. If you get NOS trims, I suggest making the bodywork fit the trim!!

We have made them buy purchasing a thick strip of aluminum, run it through the table saw with a special blade to get the correct profile then fit them to the car. Once the car is painted we do one more fitting and then send them off to be chrome plated.
