It seems that most, if not all, 275 GTB's were built with only 1 side/body builder badge and now many have badges on both sides. What's the consensus on the second badges? Were they added later for symmetry/aesthetics or some other reason?

275 GTBs have the body designer badges, Pininfarina, not the builder builder, Scaglietti.

my question was whether cars were modified adding a second badge or did some leave the factory with two badges

From what I can see 275 GTBs mostly left with 2 badges and the yellow prototype had 2.

One badge is very common, especially on the earlier cars.

thank you Dike good to hear from you. The same thing seems to go for Lusso’s half a dozen or so that I’ve had in the last years all had one badge. early and late. my experiencing goes for the 275 early and late. I’m wondering how many of them were modified

Greg: I think it is VERY common for restorers to place TWO badges on 275's without carefully investigating what was original.

Steve: I did not say EVERY GTB had only one emblem. My personal opinion is the factory probably had shortages from time to time and they needed to get the cars delivered for money.

And like so common with many other auto manufacturers, perhaps Ferrari examples intended for promotional use, i.e. Auto Shows/Salons/etc or Brochure photography, etc received a different detail & trim treatment than plain production models ?

I'm sure there are plenty of valid examples of both with and without.

And sort of goes with the old wisdom about the two words one should avoid whenever referring to (vintage) Ferrari production cars, "always" & "never", but there are some who keep insisting on one, the other or both.
