Come to think of it, I don't think the 288GTO is so RARE.... OK the number that they made are limited but the design of it is everywhere, it's in the 308...
The design 288GTO is a resemble from the design of the 308. Whereas the 275 is unique by itself......

Isn't everytime we mention the 288GTO, our mine also project the 308.........

    GTO all day.

Just go and drive both if you are lucky enough......

    I couldn't love a 275 because they just don't get the work done like a 288.

    275 GTB/4 or Alloy body 6 carb 2 cam and we'll talk some more...but not a 3 carb, sorry.

I haven't seen $250k asked for a 275 in over 6 months (their price has just taken off while GTO has been flat). I have a friend I'm consulting looking for either a 275 or 288 GTO (hence this thread). Please let me know what 275's or GTO's you see available.

I agree with both of these statements. A 275 IMHO is better looking than the 250 GTO, but I still think 250 GTO's deserve their price multiple just based on each has a racing history, much much rarer, and more of an "impact" on the world.

The 288 GTO by all logical standards is a "damn nice looking Magnum PI car".

Can anyone point me to this video?

I know money should not be an issue, but I think in the future the 275 would be worth more. Both very cool cars tho.

288 GTO. Wanted one since the day they were introduced. 275 is a fine automobile, but the GTO just does it for me.

288 GTO for me. It is the most beautiful Ferrari ever built, period.

275 GTB/4 is the sh--!!! First off it is reminicent of the original 250 GTO in styling, so why not have the original look of a GTO, and a car which really signified Ferrari road cars - fast, front engined, V12, beatuifully styled. If I was to get one of the road race cars, a 288 would be near the top of the list, but a 275 is and would be choice #1 if I every hit lotto.

Have to have borranis and the 4 cam motor. The prices have been going a little nuts. I know someone who has a yellow one, might be interested in departing w/ it wanted over $425K last year, car is impeccable.

The 288GTO for sure. It's better performiing, very limited production, the ultimate Ferrari for its time: able to be raced, yet can be driven on the Street. Exactly what Enzo wanted for his cars. Might even make money on it, but even if you don't so what, a great car to own, and to drive.

i asked this exact question about a year ago in the vintage section....

i have seen these 2 cars many times in person and for sale now more/less at the same price, and after much inner debate i would go for the 275.

its simply a question of history. the 275 is the direct descendant of the 250gto. the lines are great and so representative of ferrari in the 60's. and it was raced by the factory a few times (dont know times and places but somebody will).

whereas the 288, first ferrari supercar and beautiful as it is, is a direct descendant of the 308...not the same. it was planned for group b racing, ....but never did. and its an 8 cylinder vs a 12. (i know the f40 was too but it was raced and is an icon and therefore different).

and then there is the problem of kit cars or conversions. how many have we all seen (and drooled over), hundreds. basically anybody with a worn out 308 can spend money fixing it up to original or make it into a 288 look alike for nearly the same money. i know what i would do.

and the last reason is that if you had a 275 you would get invited to do those cool tours of italian vineyards or other neat places with about 100 other 275 owners, and you would feel as classy as glickenhaus. ;)

Ummm. Yea. I just realized something. Namely that a lot of people really like the GTO are in a certain age range (grew up in the 80s) and just haven't gotten to the point where they can afford one. Yet. Maybe very soon. Except me. So, I'm going to say...

Go for the 275. GTO? Naaa.. you don't want that. No one should! Everyone should just drop these things like a stinky rag. WAAAYYY over priced right now. V8 twin turbos!?! On a Ferrari?! You don't want that. V12 all the way!! Whooo Hooo! Yea! That's what you want. I'll um, er, yea... I'll see what I can scrape together here and help some of those 288 owners out by taking them off their hands.

Oh, no that's ok, I'm happy to do it. V8 twin turbos sheesh! Not even a real Ferrari with that wack set up. Kind-a like having a Dino badge instead of a prancing horse on the car. Who'd want that?

The equal value of both says it all and the results of this poll show it. If everybody preferred one car above the other, the market price for that one would have been higher.
If I had 300K I would not spent it on a car. If I had 3M I would consider spending 300K on a car and then get the 275GTB because I already will have a 308 that looks like a GTO :)

That's an easy one. Dump the "mundane" 348 and get both! ;)

For me, though, if you had to pick one or the other: while the 288GTO is a sweet ride, if you already have a V8, go for a V12. There's nothing in the world like the music of a Ferrari V12.

288 GTO, mmmmmmm. I rode in one at Roebling w/ that twin turbo- sweet! Looks like my car on steroids. 275 GTB is a valuable collector car w/ a great V12. hard choice.

Tough call (though would probably select another set 'o wheels for the $). That said, 288's more car. And I like the 308/sleeper aspect of it (ie ZL-1 is just a Camaro, 421 SD is just a Catalina ...). It's as pretty a Ferrari as any, IMO. Though the 275's no roach, either, and a classic 12, to boot. Toss a coin, for me. Though suppose I'd go 288 and save some $ (100k at current market?).
