Just a tidbit of info for you 275 guys. I was at Steve Harris in SL on Saturday and they had a very nice 275 in the show room. Serial No. was 7633. It is now red/tan but was maroon with black when new. Car has been in Denver appearently for many years and has had only 2 owners. I am repeating what I was told so if I am incorrect please feel free to set me straight. Anyway very nice car. Regards, Vern

I used to see a red 275 when I lived outside of Denver in Lafayette. I can't imagine there were too many of them in that area. He also had a 300sl coupe.

IMHO, the asking prices are not represntative of what cars are changing hands for. There has been a huge run up in prices over the past few years. Quality Dinos were 100K, now they are 175K, Quality Daytonas were 130K, now they are 250K, but 275s were 185K and what are they now. I would suggest there is a lot of fishing for new prices and that certain dealers, brokers and auctions do not represent the real market. And that is why LMCars and Fantasy Junction;s 275s have not sold. There is always some guy who sells his company for silly money and will pay the same currency for the car of his dreams but that is not where the market it. However, everyone that owns one thinks that is the new market price and it usually isn't.

I will start an argument here (not the first time) and say cars will likely change hands at the following levels.

    275 short nose, $500K
275 long nose, torque tube $650K
    275 4 cam $750K

of course, add a lot for alloy body, outside filler caps, f100 pt restorations, actory hot set ups etc.

Go ahead, tell me I am wrong...

Well, ask yourself this question. If you owned a restored 275gtb 2 cam long nose for example and you were offered 650 for it would you sell it knowing that they are not making any more, and more people are getting into these cars, and restoration costs are going up, and the 275gtb will aways be in vogue, and it is the closest thing to a 250 GTO to can get.

Sold quietly yesterday excellent condition 275gtb, long nose, 6 carb. alloy body $1,000,000.00. More evidence of my opinion that the good cars trade quietly for much more than you think. Ask yourself how many good 275gtb's are for sale right now?

If it's the blue one it was one million fifty, plus tax. I saw the car and it was over the top perfect. The right people worked on it.

If we're thinking same Blue one, yes it's on the build sheet (along w/headrests and chrome roll bar).

When you think that ~ 5 years ago, you could get a 4 cam for like $400,000-$450,000, they've definitely come a long way. I'd say the market for 275s has basically doubled.

It has doubled just like the pretty yellow and brown fuel and oil lines. now eight dollars per inch... In my mind I believe the 275 GTb model has gone up in value so much over the past 4 to 5 years because this models design is timeless. More people have finally realized what the car is. I know the numbers are crazy but, even at 700 to 900K look what you get for the money. What is the next jump in the vintage ferrari world, a 250swb at 2 million? The 275GTB is really a lot of car for the money. Restoring one of these cost the same as any other V12 Ferrari , but it makes more financial sense to dump your money into this model than say a 330gtc .Nothing against the gtc, it's a great car but you could be upside down quickly if you get into a big restoration. In my opinion the 275gtb will always be in style and is the best value, and believe me , I know we are talking crazy money here. I wish I had realized the 275gtb 20 years ago when all I wanted was a 308, and a 275gtb was siting next to it at Walnut Creek Ferrari for the same money. I could care less about that old model. Still, after 20 years, love the 308 design, but have more appreciation not just for the cars design, but the history and people behind them.

The car sold for one million even. If there's an extra fifty thousand then someone padded the price for themselves.

What goes up, usually comes down.

What happens when the muscle car market, begins to contract ? Yes, I have heard that today's buyers, are different than the typical late 80's investor. The eventual m.c. market contraction, is not the only negative factor, that will eventually impact the exotic classic car market values.

I think that you are a bit low on the 4 cam cars. I have a stunning 275 4 cam car, for $925K.

I was involved with the sale of a 275GTS and a 330GTS that went for $425 and $495 respectively
