as long as we're wishing.....these 2 cars are more/less similarly priced, but vastly different. maybe some of the owners can provide us with insights.
which one of these would make a better long term purchase from an investment standpoint? which would bring more pleasure and why?

As an investment 275GTB. If your serious about either you have to drive both.
They're totally different. I'd rather a 275 but that's personal. The best investment would be a 275GTB4 NART. IMHO a real one will trade for 5 million before too long.

Yeah - it wasn't long ago when the NART spyder was about 1 - 1.5 million. Who knows what it will be soon, as they only made 10. Several years ago, Road and Track had an article about one. What a car.

I, too, would take a 275 over the 288, but that's just because it's one of my favorite cars of all time :)

i wud agree that the nart will appreciate big time, but its already in the price stratosphere for me.
am curious though why you would rate the 275gtb/2 a better investment than the 288gto; after all, they made about 400 some gtb/2 and only 272 288's, so numbers should be in favor of the latter. and besides that the 288 has the distinction of being the first 'supercar' of the f40/50/enzo line.

driving them would of course be vastly different. and so the question is which one would you end up driving more: the older one in order to keep all the settings on, or the newer one because its easier? or are there other factors?

Some would enjoy driving the 275 some the 288. I think as many euro vintage events, tours, etc. have a 66 cut off the 275 GTB2 will be more valuable. That said neither IMHO should be bought for investment purposes.

And, in vintage racing, the early 275s fall into the same category as the 250 SWB, whereas the later 275s have to go against Daytonas.

    I would too.

    The 275 has a classic look, while the 288 could be mistaken for a 308, or a tarted-up 308.
    The 275 has a classic V-12, while the 288 has a twin-turbo V-8.
The 275 is more straighforward mechanically and should be less expensive to repair.
And the bottom line: the 275 will attract women MUCH more.

I would go for the 288 GTO. As much as i love the GTB looks i didnt really enjoy driving it. Felt underpowered, maybe a 4 cam would be better but those are 150K$ more...

If i really wanted a vintage V12 i would go for a Daytona coupe or Spider..
If you just want to spend 250/300k$ in a Ferrari then the GTO ( Or F40 ) would be the one .

james you think they will x 2.5 ? Its true that with only 10 cars around , im sure there are 10 billionaires ready to pay whatever is needed for a car they want. However this car isnt elligible for most events no ? No tdf , no Mille Miglia ..maybe the Ferrari Challenge ? I remember seing a pic of a NART at Le Mans ...
