I’ve developed a stainless steel removable front license plate bracket for blade type front grills that does not require drilling to mount, tools to install or remove. Recent stepping up of the police issuing tickets for no front plates has become more evident, with cities looking for increased revenue. I first made an early prototype for my 308 so as not to worry about a ticket. Then guys on local drives started asking me to make one for them too. One thing led to another. So far my two versions (V1 & V2) fit the 308, 328, GT4, Mondial (V1 & V2) and the 456-550-575 Ferraris (V2 only). My Model (V1) even fits an ’83 Lambo Euro.

I’ve now been asked if either of my brackets fits the California. I’ve not had access to one for fit testing yet. I would like to see if either of my current designs fit or I’d consider making a bracket available that fits the California if there is enough interest. Can anyone on this board send me any info on the California’s front grill profile, specifically the following:

 Blade thickness in thousandths (.xxx”) or mm.
 Blade width (front to back) in 1/16” (1-3/16”, 1-5/16”,…etc.) or mm
 Space between the vertical and horizontal blades in “ or mm

I’m located in West Los Angeles, CA if anyone is close by me that would allow me to check fit on their car or perhaps design a new model. Any info is appreciated.

You can check out some past threads for more info on both my brackets.

Your can also go to Birdman’s website, an Fchatter who was nice enough to post pictures and info on purchasing.

I would like to see the one it has already too! I am going without the front plate mounted for now (as I did with the 360) but it woudl be nice to know the possibilities just in case...

If you look at the front bracket it is a two piece. held(sandwiched) by 4 screws.

It fits on the lower spoiler area.

I think you idea is admirable - but I wouldn't want it on my car - looks very Heath Robinson!

It needs quite a bit of refinement to fit with the flowing styling of the cars.

I know this thread is pretty old but I thought I should revive it to mention how much I liked this product. I bought the bracket more than 6 months ago and it has been sitting in my closet since then as I didn't need it until last week.
I live in London and decided to remove the front licence very early on but as I went to France I had to fit one on as the French cops are known to be very tough on the issue....

Anyway it took me less then 5 minutes to drill the plate and attach it to the bracket and then to the car. It holds perfectly well and I had no complaints at all.

    Thank you

I recently bought this bracket and it is a very clever design and fits my vintage (aluminum slat) front grill perfectly. I goes on and comes off in 2 seconds. I highly recommend it!!

I will post some pics tonight, it utilizes the tow hook. I have seen the author's plate on a 458 and it looked great. The only advantage I see is that one can choose the position and height of where the plate will sit. I have it far to left so as not to obstruct the grill.

+1. I like mine but wish Bob would make a black anodized version. It would go better with the standard grill.

I've always offered a color version. The problem is I have had only 2 requests for black in two years now and none in any other color. The cost to finish individual Plate clips would run at least $75 over the cost of the basic bracket as a minimum charge for powder coating. Anodizing or plating may be even more. I would have to quote the added amount once I was told the finish desired. I did do a satin black (+$75) one for a 599 HGTE client and have the pictures posted on my website (and now here).

Bob, good to know! I wasn't focusing on the color figuring the car wouldn't be wearing it all that much but now people are getting pulled over for no front plates where I live. So if on the car more often I may order a second one in black.
