Who says this is supposed to be a 288 GTO? Looks like a modified 328 to me.

Wrong mirrors, wrong lamps, wrong paint job on bumper, wrong front wing.

I like 288 GTO rebodies, but this doesn't qualify.

The thing the 328 has going for it in an attempt to replicate a 288 GTO is its instrument panel, the center stack is a lot closer to what the GTO has than it would be in any 308. The downside are the wrong switches etc which in the GTO are all 308 style. That's what makes the GTO such an odd bird, it really is a cross between a 308 and 328 in the interior design.

Can't tell if any of these have the extra wheelbase. These photos have been on FChat, most of the cars still belong to FChat participants. If you do a search, you may find more.

I LOVE when guys to that to a 308-328- it makes the value of our cars go up ! (fewer correct cars around)

    Neat.

From all the pics posted the last one (Final product) comes very close: Note the missing line of the engine hood. That's what separates the boys from the men. Weld down the c strud and cut the hood that opens and closes flat. Difficult job to get right.

I once looked into doing this conversion to my 308, but then realized how much money is required: Parts alone is about 10k, labor is 10k and new paint job is another 10k. No wonder good rebodies go for about 70k and that's without even stretching the body or adding turbos to the engine (add another 10k-30k). Interior is another 10k.

Like with many replicas the way to do this is to find one that has already eaten the costs and then improve from there.
