    I have only seen 288 GTO's in red. How many other colours were originally used by the factory?

    red. one of the prototype cars was yellow.

    The Sultan of Brunei had 6 288 GTO, all of them were RHD.

    Black with the stripe in red, black interior.
    Blue with red stripe, tan interior.
    Silver with black stripe and black interior.
    Red with black stripe and black interior.
    Yellow with red interior.
    Dark Green with black interior.

    2 288 GTO EVOLUZIONE.

    Also 2 silver GTO's in Mexico but they were repaints.

    I think you were joking but actually there was a one-off green 288 GTO GT for the Sultan of Brunei:

    It was basically a lowered 288 GTO with an F40 spoiler, tinted windows, different rims, shorter rear-view mirrors, longer side scoops, more vents on the side (5 in back and 3 in front as opposed to only 3 in back), and a V16 engine.

    i read in a recent article saying that all GTOs were originnally red from the factory. the article pointed out if there's any colour other than red, it's not sprayed from the ferrari factory. not sure if this article is right or wrong

    According to Keith Brummal (sp?) that is correct. All 272 (Ron Tonkin has/had #273 made from spare parts) left the factory red only.
