The new AuotoItalia mag ,issue 105, features this car, well worth a read :)
So soon? They reviewed it last year in Autoitalia. I remember this because I referred it to Steve328/Steve275 as I thought he might be interested as he had a 288....
Few snippetts from AutoItalia article; "....the trusty 288 Evo was recently treated to a rebuild. Brakes, suspension and transmission have been overhauled and the car is at Snetterton for a shakedown. Before dismantling , the dyno measured the power output of the 2.8 ltre V8 @ 440BHP.The old Magnetti Marelli management system was ditched in favour of a fully programmable Motec system. Without increasing boost, the Motec ECU raised the power output to 550 BHP.The motor was then dismantled and rebuilt and uprated using state of the art pistons, rods , valves, six throttle bodies and water injection. The standard Michelotto race cams are retained as are the twin IHI turbos and twin intercoolers. Power is now 661 BHP - and could reach 700 BHP on race fuel- with just 1.87 bar boost. Charge temperature is the key to to turbo power and the 2888 GTO is limited by the size and position of its 2 intercoolers. Fitting larger intercoolers in an area with high airspeed is not possible without losing the car's character. If it were , then 1000 BHP would be possible....."

EVO magazine had a short article on it last year I think. They said the gearbox is crap. Not fun to change gears at all. Anyone know if it was just a fluke or if its true on all the 288 EVOs? Great pictures everyone. I want to see this car really bad. Looks utterly fantastic!
Fantastic! What are you going to do about the interior? Will you turn it into a race car? Gosh I can't wait to see you get started on this. Promise me you'll post pics. Please! Heck, I might have to come to FL to see this thing for myself. <getting exited like a little girl>
The interior will be close to the race version, roll bar, except this will be a street car, so being in Florida I will have air conditioning. I am single, so reasonable comfort for a female passenger will be included. Not sure about those carbon fiber interior side sills. I have the molds, but...... Sliding side windows. Not sure about the motor/transax. I may be a glutton for punishment, but our roads in south Florida are relatively flat, so the ride height will be similar to the race version. I don't expect to get started until January. Body will propbably be mostly 'glass, some carbon fiber. Again, this will be a Evo look-alike, not a recreation. I just love the look of the Evo.
Excellent thread and pics! It's so hard to find 288 GTO EVO pics any where. Let alone so many and at speed. Great photography as well.
