I was just wonder why in this section we are talking mainly about Enzo model. I know that this is amazing car and I like it vey much but according to previous thread (will they ever be forgotten? ) I think that we ( Ferrari freaks) should keep the history alive. Let's talk a little bit more about this old but still fascinating exotics. Look at 288 GTO there was built only 272(?) cars - less than Enzo. And this body. It was the first car where material called Nomex ware used in a production. I wish to find here informations similar to this from Enzo's threads ( owners , pics , modifications , colours , etc.).

    Regards

Do a search. Both the 288GTO and F40 have been covered. From the one off Yellow Prototype and F1 factory exhaust on the 288GTOs to, well... just about everything on the F40s.

I think the issue boils down to access and interest. Quick look at some numbers(as of 316 pm EST):

    Posts Section
    31947 Vintage
    45931 Classic
    73845 Modern

Its not saying necessarily that the Moderns are better cars, but a lot of people(especially the ones that don't own F cars) are relatively young and cars like the 288 are before their time. I'm 23 and the first F car I can remember knowing was a Testarossa and first super car was F 40,sad I know, but its true.

I'm sure there are a decent amount of people on the board with access who always trade in to the newest F car on the block because that's how they are and thats what they want to talk about. Those who swear by the older cars, will always swear by them.

Another idea, like I mentioned earlier, a lot of posters on this board are pretty young. Most of those kids(we'll say 15-16 and below) unless they were educated on the F40 or 288 before coming across a picture of the F50 or Enzo won't dream or put up posters of the former cars. They don't know them. They just know what's hot and what the big boys are paying the big figures for. [I don't know 288 prices so they could be going for really high also). So when they ever come into great wealth, what do you think they're gonna go for? Something their dad spoke about or something on cover of EVO?

Look at magazine covers today, except for EVO and there testing F cars against each other, everybody is gunning for the Enzo. That is arguably "the benchmark" for the supercar right now despite many peoples claim that the F40 or F50 was better(we had a poll and I cant remember what was voted favorite supercar but i dont think it was the 288).

I can't keep track of sales like NNO, but if I had to guess I would say that most F40s are staying with there current owners, the same for the 288. I never hear of an F50 sale(except for Cages), but again, I'm out that loop. But I know I always hear of an enzo on the move. The people here talk about what they know, and I'm not trying to insult anybody, but I think its safe to say that more people know the finer details about the F50 and Enzo than the F40 and 288.

And we know what happens when someone comes on the board talking about things they know nothing about, its messy. :D

p.s. I ramble alot but my purpose is good. :)

I agree I'm getting sick of the Enzo ... We need to talk about F50's more
Just kidding but we really do need to talk about F50's more.

I agree with what murcielago says in that the age break up of the posters is the factor in defining what is posted. Im only 17, and my earliest memory of a Ferrari was seeing a 355, I grew up around cars like the 355, 360 and the enzo, so those are always going to be what i will appreciate and know the most. I'm a big fan of the F40, but as mentioned before, it was before my time so its not going to be to my biggest interest, i'd much rather be driving an enzo... It's all about the times
