    Hello All!

I have seen a plastic model by Fujimi of a 288 GTO in Gulf livery and I am wondering if this ever raced?? I think they are getting it confused with the Michelloti 308's that I have seen in this paint scheme. Does any other F-Chatters know if the 288 raced like this?

    Cheers!

I don´t think any 288 has raced. There were/are some 308 in Gulf livery, a fellow dutchman raced one, but I think that is just an idea of the owner to make the car look pretty.
There is the famous scalectrix slot car GTO in red with Cimarron livery, but that is also not real, there was only a similar 308 rally car. Here are some pics of the Bob Norwood salt lake record car, but that is not a GTO!

The only "track ready" 288 I know of (wait..that's not saying much) is the Tom Williamson / Steve Barney car that is or was for sale last year. It has never been on the street that I know of, at least that is what I remember about it.

    Off topic perhaps but...

Wasn't there also a collector who loved to track his 288 in which he had painted silver along with other fcars? I believe it was a Mexican fellow in the US?
