I am actually quite offended that this guy is trying to sell this 308 with that engine and the stick shift looks terrible!! He made no attempt to make it look good.

If I want an affordable Ferrari, I'll go with a 308GT4 or a 400 series...this is just wrong!!! (just my $.02)

Not to defend this car but I think a stock N/A 3800 V-6 had close to 200hp and the supercharged version had somethign like 240hp. I don't think the engine in this car is the SC version but either wat it's similar hp to a stock 2V. Not only that but with more displacement (3.8 vs 3.0) it probably has more torque than a stock 2V too.

Still not defendig the car =)

I do love it in yellow with those wheels (I have a set I'm refinishing for my car). Interior is crap, engine conversion is questionable...reserve should have been met long before $15K...

Someone will think they are getting a deal and low cost of operation.

In fact they make kits to adapt a V-8 to the trans the 3800 sits on. Someone has already done the hard work of converting to a different drive train (half shafts, brakes, etc). Someone could buy this car, convert the conversion to a LS-1 SB with 400hp...

I'm not disputing the performance side as you can stick a tuned turbo jap lump in one and it would be just as quick, its just to me like sticking a digital movement in a Rolex case

I am shocked that we haven't heard of this conversion before. I mean, people on this site have brought up re-powering the 308 with something more modern before yet this thing comes in out of the blue. I agree that the reserve should have been met already, it seems an awefully high price to pay for a bastardized 308.

I've seen (on the web) this same convert about 4-5 years ago on a red GTSi somewhere in Florida.

Engine conversions on F-cars is such a touchy subject around here.

Your right though, most of the threads that have come up here, no one seems to look at this (3800) or the Northstar layout. Those set-ups are already transverse and would be much easier to adapt to a 308 than some sort of longitudinal set-up.

I'll be honest and say that 5 years ago when I first strated searching for a 308 I looked at engine conversions as an option. At the time I had little knowledge of how to maintain a ferrari and living so far from dealers and or capable shops, I thought it might be an option. I'm a big DIY'er, love to work on projects and saw it at it as a way to save a little money and a lot of headache in the long run.

Once I started to test drive a few cars the sound and feel of the real engine, the shift gate, etc shut down that idea pretty fast.

Plus having a great resource like F-chat really helps one gain knowledge and confidence to work on these cars.
