Why is there no title? Carpenter usually used street cars for his conversions.

not exactly sure - the owner has been very up front about the car and said that he never rec'd the title and never worried about it. He uses it strickly as a track car and never needed a title. I imagine that a new owner can do a title search and try to find a title but I don't know how difficult that will be.

If it is over a certain age some states don't issue titles.

According to the caveat in my ad - Important Note - the owner makes no claims regarding this cars ability to be registered for the street. The car is being provided without a title although the car has a VIN #. Each state varies and the level of difficulty to get the car street legal is unknown. The owner recommends leaving it "as is" and enjoying it on the track.
So, therefore, I don't want to guarantee that it can be made street legal.

On the bright side, I've also got another 288 GTO Carpenter built car that is currently for sale and street legal. Click below to take a look:

It is priced higher but it is sharper cosmetically and comes with a title.
