288 v F40 v F50 v Enzo v La Ferrari

I'm very tall, so the only 2 that don't need modifications for me to fit are the Enzo and LaF. Regardless...I rather like the F50 and F40 more. F40 I need to drop the floor, smaller wheel and custom seat and different pedals, in the F50 probably more extensive modifications...

I think the 288 GTO is very pretty and all that, but the F40 appeals to me more. Don't think the purists would enjoy it if I started cutting up half a 288 GTO to make myself fit into that too . I wouldn't mind one, but I wouldn't buy purely to have...I'd want to drive it too and in all honestly, I'd see myself take the F40 over the 288 GTO every time to drive.

Enzo and LaF...little bit unsure of the order of those 2. Prefer the noise the LaF makes. Love the looks of both. I think the Enzo might be a ''purer'' drive though. I think those 2 could swap depending on my mood!

 

FWIW, if you don't fit in a GTO, you'll never fit in an F40. In fact, there is more room in the GTO.

Interesting.

I believe an F40 can be modified in such a way that I'll fit but the car will be almost impossible to sell for a price that'll be relevant in that time.

I know of a Dutch guy who has driven an F40, who at 6'6'' just about squeezed himself into a standard Euro F40. I've got a few inches on him so with a seat like the above (not exactly pretty) it should be doable I'd say.

On a side note, is the F50 interior bigger or smaller than the 288?

I'd say its about the same, although with the F50's roof off, headroom increases.

No love for the F50? At least Bas had good taste.

Enzo and LF are a tossup... I prefer the looks of the Enzo but it would be hard to pass up the current pinnacle of Ferrari. It feels like a sin putting the F40 so low. The 288GTO is beautiful but the other cars are much more appealing to me.

Easy: F50. Opentop, naturally aspirated V12, manual geared, F1 derived engined motoring nirvana.

288. They got it perfectly right the first time.

 

F50 (euro model). V12 with a 6-speed. Make sure it comes with black speedline wheels and MS racing exhaust and it would be perfect.

Only other Fcar I would take over that would be an F50 GT.

The F40 passenger area is TINY. I'm only 5'10" and had difficulty fitting in comfortably. The driver side, though, had much more room oddly enough.

 

On any given day I could pick either 288GTO or Enzo. Today I picked Enzo. Tomorrow, who knows. I only wish I truly had this dilema!

 

I share the same, although I'd probably go with J wolf (video below).

I wouldn't be afraid of having the F50 GT roof, rear clamshell with wing and the engine cover on it either

I would say the F40.

The only prob with the GTO is that, sorry guys but it's the truth (in my opinion) that it is a kitted up 308 as it is based off that car, where's the F40 and beyond have their own unique look and aren't shared with the "cheaper models" .

In saying all this I have both an F40 and F50, I would still LOVE to own a 288 GTO anytime.

 

The F40 is a kitted up 288 GTO Evoluzione.

 

I would rate them: F40, F50, 288GTO, and Enzo, in that order. For me, it's pretty close between the F40 and F50, and pretty close between the 288GTO and Enzo.

I don't rate LaFerrari and wouldn't want one. It just doesn't speak to me at all.

F50 for me.

It is the most distilled of the supercars.

Engine bolted directly to the tub, solid bushings, manual gearbox, no traction/stability control, NA V12. Doesn't get better.

 

Yeah the GTO and the F40 are certainly special cars, but they're clearly heavily developed 308s. The F40 separates itself drastically with design but it's in many ways a continuation of the same car and they made a lot of them. Even though it's trivial, having just the GTO would make me wish for an F40, which is arguably the ultimate expression of the line.

+1 "most distilled" sums it up I think.

It is also, to me, the most stand-alone supercar Ferrari has made, with its own distinct personality that makes it unique. The Enzo is similar, but with uncharacteristic Japanese styling and a leap into the future technologically.

I truly respect that you own an F40 & F50, but, sometimes it is good to read & learn, so as not to make erroneous remarks.

Sorry, but that's the truth.

The 288 GTO has nothing to do with the 308 other than a slight passing resemblance in overall shape. The engine, chassis, body (the first composite Ferrari Supercar), wheels, suspension & interior are all 100% different and a fresh new design.

There is a good book out on the GTO which explains it all.
