LH drive cars are not registerable in Australia. Some states seem to have more loop holes in their laws, but basically it's a no no. Which is ridiculous.

A case is being put to Canberra to argue the point, based on the UK rules allowing such use, the blatant hypocrasy of allowing 30 year old Mustangs (and such like) to be registered despite their LHD status, and of course, the lost revenue the Gov't are missing out on by restricting sales and usage of these potentially million dollar cars.

If there are any adults out there who think they could support the case, speak up.

who do we approach in Govt, either federal or state

and BTW there is the issue of the full electric car that is sitting on the docks in syderney that cannot be brought into aust cos of ADR safety but its allowed to be used in UK and Europe..........sounds like the oil comp are running the country.

phil if you run this thread properly we can all together form a great cause

I suspect they are worried about setting a precedent. Let one LHD Ferrari supercar get registered and all of a sudden you have a rash of LHD "XYZ" NHOS on the roads. The only solution would be application on a case by case basis under set guidelines. Not sure if that would be workable; but they are missing out on considerable revenue. It can be hard/impossible to get Government to see the wood for the trees.

Tax it to kingdom come if they like. That'll sort the men out from the boys... some of which we already have in this thread.

    Adults only, please.

At this stage, we all support Mark Coffey (Maranello Motorsport). He's already broken the ice and now it needs some pressure.

Not interested in electric car. This is just about a taxable form of luxury entertainment, not a motor trade re-invention.

The volume will be almost negligible.

Then there will be no takers. People would just do what they do now.
Even with "normal" taxes I predict you won't see too many road registered Enzo's out there.

We've got the dealers of course. They've done plenty already. Several campaigns and other servicing.

But they're already taxed very highly... and they DO sell despite being un registerable... don't they?

If they were registerable, and were taxed more, they'd still sell.

You don't see MANY Enzo's anywhere. It's just legality we're after, not volume.

no, i am pretty clear on this, even the 599, who can really fix it when it goes bang, and they eventually go bang, they hemorrhage oil all over the place, but do tell do these newbies take oil or are they oil free?

drug dealers need to spend money on something

yeah like the first service on a maserati QP, with all their (mechanical) intelligence the fook it up, so when a real problem occurs they go out to lunch and some dumb blonde receptionist takes the cake, and i'm sure the chief mechanic at you know who, well the best part of him slid down the crack of his mothers arse and ended up as a stain on the sheet!

I'm sure the same was thought about the 550, and the 456, and the TRossa..... And for alloy bodies/chassis... the 360 was thought to be trouble, but all can be fixed properly here both in and out of the dealer network.

I think you over estimate how many people are able to pay, let alone willing to pay LCT, GST and then stampduty for ORC on an Enzo. Can't be bothered working it out; but I am guessing it could add $400k+ to an Enzo. That's $400k down the plughole BTW.

Ok, so Adelaide struggles, but they are very small. Sydney and Melbourne dealers CAN get things done right.

I know of F50's that have sold for high 200k's Euro, that would demand mid AUD$900k asking price here.

    Same difference.

anyway, WTF... don't you want to register your car?

I didn't say they DO, just that they CAN. I've seen plenty of their jobs to know.

    Interesting........tell me about it sometime.

Oh, of course I would like to have it registered. However, I wouldn't pay insane money for it in order to do a couple of thousand km's a year.

    OK, not here though!

But you'd risk your licence (and more) to drive it a few hundred?
