I had a scar on my 992 TTS from the drive home before PPF could be applied. Very annoying. You're smart to wait.

Exterior sills yes. Under-the-door interior sill no. I had it on a 360 I had from 20 years ago. I believe that enough friction from years of opening / closing pulled the edges of the film. The real problem was getting the adhesive off. Specifically, it was that the film was 2000-2002 era. So I have skipped the interior / under the door sill. I have it on another car from 2004 and it is pretty scuffed up. It also pulled the paint off a bumper. This was when film was really not high end performance vehicle focused and coming out of military applications. So I just stayed in areas that had the least interaction. I am still undecided as to whether it is worth the adhesive risk over a decade. I am curious to hear about your experience.

When I got my new 2014 458, I had the front end (bumpers, hood, fenders mirrors) done right after delivery with Xpel. Once I decided to keep the car in 2018 I had the old film removed and had the entire car done at this point front to back with exterior sills including the silver tread plates etc.. There was no problem pulling the film off the car, no paint came off or any issues at all. It will depend on the installer and how familiar they are with PPF. I used to have a guy who would mobile wash my cars who then moved onto doing PPF as he expanded his business. Went by one day to check out the new place and saw 4 guys scraping off the PPF from a porsche roof. I commented that wow its really hard to peel off old film huh? His reply was oh yea, the polyurethane is stuck to the roof and scraping was the only way to get it off with a lot of Goof-off and this cars film was only 4 years old. I've seen my current detailer take off film from my Pista hood with a steamer and heat gun and came off so easily. Just be sure you have a well experience PPF guy or they will F-up your paint.

I ordered mine with "stock rims" because I really liked the way they looked. It was just that simple.
However, my sales executive gave me some pressure to order "optional wheels" with one BS reason after another.

Ex: "Oh, when people see your 296 they are going to know they are stock" I say...."so what"?
"Well Ferrari has an expectation on how the cars are ordered with options....blah,blah,blah" I think that was BS too.

I like the stock rims. I think they are very classy. Other people like other rims....and other colors. That's what makes the world go 'round.
The bottom line is, after 2 f*^kig years I am just so dang happy that it is finally built. I am going over next week for a "Factory Collection".
I only waited 6 months to have my Mac 720 built (as the dealer told me in advance and nailed it to the day), so this was pure torture for 2 years.
Can't wait to see it and get acquainted .

    Jim

Car finally arrived two months ago, it's a special color Bianco Cervino, I bought it from Ferrari Of West Palm Beach Florida. It took two months from the time it was completed until I received it in Florida. It's been a blast to drive and looks even better in person. The more you look at the lines, the more you appreciate the beautiful balance they achieved between old and new and refined Vs aggressive. The cabin is refined, beautiful leathers and trim work. I'm not a fan of their human interfaces, I find the basic software rich with information, but getting to it isn't that smooth.

Looks fantastic. Also, your bianco cervino spec picture reminds me of the Enzo design when I look at the passenger compartment and back half and how it fits together.

Congratulations! I am happy for you, but this post is also what I needed to hear to cheer me up. Last week I found out that Ferrari did not pick up my order for a 4th quarter build. I have been depressed for days. I have only had my deposit in for a few months so I guess I need to be more patient. I am still mildly jealous of all of the cars being built right now.

My deposit has been in for almost two years and I do not have a VIN, much less a 4th quarter build. Patience grasshopper.

My deposit for a 296 GTB has been in for 18 months, I have a new GT3 coming so that buys me time. This was all expected as in demand cars either get sent to brokers, customers that have a Ferrari to trade, or those with high MSRP builds. I have been in the dealer world for almost two decades, so none of this is a surprise to me.

I've purchased a handful of new Ferraris from my dealer, and all were sold back to them upon trade. I'm expecting to receive the car once the resale market for these things comes close to MSRP.

Mine just delivered on this past Saturday. It was in Status 90 exactly how long I expected - about 3 months total.

Rosso Scuderia, 296 GTB, AF, Carbon Fiber Wheels, Carbon Seats, Carbon Steering Wheel, JBL Audio. about $130k in options.

Also I am so glad I got Scuderia. That red vs. black contrast on my spec is stunning in person on the 296 GTB.
