Not huge cost. Ferarri changed their warranty on hybrids. The two year extension now covers everything the same as the original factory warranty. I paid $6800 for a two year extension. It is my understanding I can keep purchasing this every two years. I can enjoy this phenomenal car and not worry about anything.
Hi everyone, I’ve been driving my 296 GTB for about 5–6 months with zero issues. The problem I’m about to describe only started right after the 12V battery was disconnected and the OEM audio amplifier was removed and reinstalled. This was done outside of the official dealer. We never installed the aftermarket amp we were planning; the OEM amp was put back in place exactly as before. From that exact moment, the issue began, and it has now been about a month without a solution. • After locking the car, it goes to sleep in about approx. 10 minutes. • But after 4–6 hours, the car wakes up by itself, hazard lights start flashing, and the 12V battery voltage drops. • By the next start attempt, the 12V battery is too low and must be externally recharged. • This happens every single time, so the car can’t be left overnight without draining the battery. And then; 1. Dealer installed a brand new AGM 12V battery —- no change. 2. Fixed an exhaust flap fault (dealer thought it might be keeping the car awake) —- sleep time improved from 40–45 min to 10 min, but the wake-up/drain still happens. 3. Dealer has been charging the 12V externally for testing —- no improvement. 4. No aftermarket electronics are connected – OEM amp is back exactly as before. 5. Dealer says no reset/adaptation is required after a battery change, but I suspect some sort of low-voltage system re-initialization, BMS reset or module reset may be needed. Are there any Ferrari procedures for low-voltage/BMS re-initialization after a battery disconnect? Or any update? To clarify again; this problem started immediately after disconnecting the 12V battery and removing/reinstalling the OEM audio amplifier. Personally, I don’t really believe the amplifier removal itself is the cause it only has three connectors and was reinstalled exactly as before. Thanks
As you note there might be something that needs re-calibration but I would hope the dealer's service department checked for such, did they see any error codes? For high parasitic drain, perhaps something is trying to "phone home" in a loop. Does the Ferrari App see the car and is data updating? Do you have a tracker, if so ask the service provider if they can see the car and where and then drive out to a new location and ask again to prove it is working. When you reverted back to the standard audio system are all the components working, check adjusting treble/bass/loudness etc to make sure the original amp does not have some form issue.
