And this is relevant, how? Your iphone is made in China, and just about every single MB is assembled in Thailand, in whole or in part.
That's different from EVs as they charge the 12V while driving (despite not having an alternator). Regardless, it might still be a good idea to use a battery maintainer/tender to keep the LVB charged so that you're not keeping the car plugged into the charger, especially if the HVB is fully charged.
12V is charged through battery pack. One doesn’t need to charge. This is why 296 and SF90 has no charging port for 12V. Didn’t manual mention you don’t have to charge and don’t touch kinda thing? I think I saw it. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yes, I have a CTEK PRO charger and I was thinking I might keep baterry charged directly by connecting the battery
I had great succes with previous Ferrari 488 by using a antigravity battery. Seems they did not released a battery for 296 yet. Anyone know if they might ?
Mmh, might not understood everything but are you sure, that it isn't vice versa? That the 12V battery is charged whilest charging the big one and -if you are not a daily user-that might be the problem? My 488 was most of the times at the external charger but when on holidays for weeks no charging did not cause any problem. But with the 296 this might be an issue, as someone wrote max 10 days without charging might cause deep emptied battery Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I wouldn’t advise anyone to fit an anti gravity battery on a 296. All of these cars are under warranty. Ferrari are famous for declining warranty repairs with non Ferrari parts fitted. Especially with the hybrid electrical system. Stick with the el cheapo Ferrari China made battery. Lol. I have left my 296 for at least 3 weeks once without the charger. (I had a fully topped up hybrid battery). The app showed the charge slowly bleeding away. Only problem is the app keeps pinging me every 3 hours to plug the car in !!
It's a feature on the My Ferrari app. I believe the UK is one of the first markets to get this functionality and is being used as a testing ground for it. This is a screen grab from the day I had my battery issue. It lets you check various aspects on the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you. It is not implemented here yet. Great to see Ferrari catches up with other’s doing long time ago… Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I’ve just turned it on for my car - it’s very cool!… do other manufacturers have anything similar? Don’t think Porsche do…
Porsche do have an app that does similar and lets you see the car's location, fuel level, lock/unlock the car remotely, flash the lights, sound the horn etc.
The porsche app doesn’t show you your drives, marked out on a map, the gears you drove in, the max Revs you hit and the Manet in no setting on that drive.
Does the Ferrari App show all of this? Wow, I like that. Maybe it is adapted for my country until I get my 296... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
If you go into the App and click on the car you want it for… there is a sub menu… it’s asks you if you want to activate MyFerrari Connect… if you click yes it says it will take a few minutes, then it sends you an email when it is activated.. it’s says UK is one of the pilot markets in Europe - not sure about other countries
I can’t see that level of functionality on the App at present (in UK). What I get is main vehicle status parameters as show in the screenshots! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unfortunately I seem to have exactly the same problem. The car was plugged in overnight and apparently didn't charge via the delivered charger. Unplugged it etc., but it just doesn't begin charging, although the charger shows 2 blue flashing lights, indicating it is charging. The car cannot be started. Picked up the car new exactly one week ago drove 60km... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
To be honest I’m beginning to think the safest thing to do is not to plug in the 296 … and just charge it when driving like people do with ordinary PHEVs…. … if as others have observed the 296 and SF90 can go a number of weeks without charging then who knows…
Ugh, this isn't good. Do you guys think it's a coincidence that both of these failures are in Europe and that the system may interact differently with 110V infrastructure? Or is just because there have been a lot more European deliveries?
I think it is because the chargers did not charge the cars. Remember the cars do not have a normal starter motor. The e-drive motor spins the engine into life. When I leave my GTB unplugged and there is very low battery charge, I get constant warnings “Battery: Thermal runaway danger” That means. Go plug me in !! Image Unavailable, Please Login
