I had the chance to try a car with a race seat and one with a comfort seat. They have redesigned the race seat. Throughout the drive the race seat was distracting me a lot. I am not tall but my legs are long. 5’10 tall. The seat was squeaking too much against the engine firewall. It was stopping me from focusing on driving. It is a very different race seat to my GTS, for example in my GTS the seat lifter is a lever, in the GTB it is electric. I will come back to the comfort seat. The drive of the car was really smooth. When you start it up there is a spaceship sound of a swoosh. It starts in electric mode. As you start to drive off it is surreal quite and very smooth. I got out on the road and I was not provoked into flooring it. I had never driven a Ferrari so quiet. It was weird and nice. Then my Ferrari co driver told me to put down the pedal. OMG the V6 growled into life and the car entered warp speed. The transition from electric to V6 was seamless, however there was no way that car was not telling you that the V6 was awake. It sent shivers through me. As I accelerated, the smooth deliver of the power was amazing. Taking it around corners was fluid and not once did I feel worried about loosing the car. I got up to a spritely speed quickly. The way the car got to speed, it felt slick and free. The steering response was very complimentary to the speed around corners. This is a car you can drive every day. Here is my interesting thought, it drove much easier than my Roma. I felt this is a true drivers car in every sense. Back to the seats. With comfort seats I was able to focus on driving. They held me really well. If you were going to take the 296 on a track a lot, then you may decide on race seats. If thats not going to happen, don’t hesitate and get comfort seats. I have told my dealer to swap them from race seats to comfort on my order. Seats was my only thing.
If anyone gets a chance to get a drive, don’t hesitate.
