Good day all, Recent member to the forum and on my third car. 488 Spyder > 812 SF > 296 GTB (collected 3 days ago). Lucky for me i've been invited by Aston Martin to join them in Hospitality at the Belgian GP at my favourite Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. I've never been before let alone in paddock etc. I'm leaving from Southport, UK on Thursday 25th to Monday 29th July 24. Travel Itinerary Southport Thursday: 7am Hit the road with a few stops toward Folkestone to catch the EuroTunnel by 3pm (hopefully). Calais 5pm Local time stop off at a hotel in France Friday: France to Aachen, Germany (Where i'm staying during the GP weekend) Will rely on Bus Transfers to and from Circuit for the rest of the weekend which is not ideal but too late to get a parking space on track it seems? Same trip in reverse. I'm posting because i plan to fit the car with some cameras, take the drone with me and use the trip as a way to answer some of the 296 common questions. What's the real MPG combined? Total cost of fuel? Will i still have the ability to walk after so many hours in the carbon seats? Travel trips when taking a car, elope vs UK things to take with you What apps i'm using What a hybrid Ferrari is really like on long trips Must see sights along the way Toll roads with a right hand drive car Would love your own tips, places to see and anything i should try test/answer along the way. I am not a journalist, car expert, professional driver or content creator. This will be totally amateur, i'm just a guy travelling alone in my cars with a curious mind and love driving to interesting places and create memories at the GP. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks all! and again, Hello! ps. anyone else attending the GP? Let's meet. Dearg
Hi Dearg congrats on your 3rd Ferrari. Sounds like a fun trip Southport to Folkestone is a long drive. From Southport its quicker to Hull, then ferry to Zeebrugge. I did it many years ago in and Austin Healey.
I’ve just done a trip around Andalucia with my GTS and was surprised how frugal the car is vs my old GT3… think filled up 3-4 times over 1,000 miles of fast mountain roads and a day at the track… did switch to hybrid/ e Drive in towns and some motorway stretches but not for very long!. I would stick a Go Pro or IPhone mount on the rear glass screen behind the seats but just don’t forget to remove it before raising or lowering the glass ps both my car and my friends GTB performed faultlessly over 6 days of hard driving and high temps
I normally refuel after 650 kms, just to be sure to be safe. Always according to the legal speed limits.
