The French magazine now tests the cars on the "Val de Vienne" track (for those wanting to watch the track from the inside, that's the one I posted a video of in the "458 or 488" thread, post #556 - for the record, my best lap on this track with the 488 is 1'53"48... it should be possible to improve on that even for me, since on this lap my top speed was only 236 kph while I could exceed 250 kph - 251, 253 - in some other laps).
    The 296 GTS AF achieves 1'37"70, while a Chevrolet Corvette makes a 1'39"30, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) 1'41"60 and the Porsche 911 GT3 (992) 1'42"80 (with the right Michelin tires).
There are questionable choices from the manufacturers (I wonder why Ferrari provided a GTS and not a GTB, and Porsche came with a GT3 RS equipped with GoodYear tires instead of Michelin Cup 2R), but these times are interesting because they are set on the same track by the same professional driver (Christophe Tinseau).

Good information. The 296 is really a monster. The VS is coming to blow the roof off, whenever it arrives.

In regards to your last comment - I wonder if manufacturers do that because of supply or because now fanboys can always argue "what if".

They also have verified performance figures in this test (all "metric" because it's a French magazine):
    standing start 400 m : 9"9
    standing start 1000 m : 18"0
    0-100 kph : 2"7
    0-160 kph : 5"0
    0-200 kph : 7"2
    0-250 kph : 11"5
    0-300 kph : 20"3
Top speed has not been tested, they do not have enough distance on their testing ground (and the testing ring is too small, achievable speeds on it barely exceed 250 kph).
