Is it possible to still order a new 296 GTS? Just curious with 250 of them for sale used and most with unrealistic value expectations thought I would maybe just order one instead...

The order book is closed, but call your dealer as they may have some cancellations that the dealer still have as pending cars, or if not formally 'canceled' it is likely that some people would let you take over their allocation.

I heard that still here (in Europe) dealers are taken new allocations.

I made my interest known about a year and a half ago and was given an allocation after a cancellation came in.
    Can’t hurt to ask

As stated best bet to speak with your dealer. A personal visit might be even better.

Not sure where you got your information from or if you were just making it up as you typed, but I reached out to two Ferrari dealers. Both had changeable allocations. I then was researching used F8s and every dealer I spoke with had a 296 GTS allocation (changeable) if I wanted it.

This just further goes to show that dealers (and consigned customers) with used 296 GTSs for sale need to get way more realistic on values if they have any interest in actually selling one. I honestly wonder if it is a dealer tactic to try to sell the remaining allocations? It's one thing when all allocations are done and your only option is used AND there aren't too many for sale. But to have over 200 listed for sale plus the 1-2+ new that every dealer has but can advertise, these are no longer MSRP cars. I've found some at $100K off and $50K off (and they aren't selling) but most are listed at or above MSRP.

I would love to try a 296 because from what I have read it is a great car. But these are just not smart purchases right now. For instance, most F8 Spiders for sale are still commanding MSRP+ and they are 1-3+ year old cars.

Paying MSRP or above for someone ELSE’S spec makes zero sense. Everyone knows this but the askers are rejecting this reality to their detriment. It’s like holding on to a losing stock position hoping it’ll come back. But it doesn’t. Paying MSRP for your own spec makes sense if you love the car AND love owning it. If not, maybe it’s not a good match.

  10. Ok, then happy shopping.

When I inquired about 6 months ago, I was told no more changeable allocations. And I should wait for a VS allocation, which I passed on.

Congrats, spec'ing a car is half the fun.

Disagree. Depending on the state, MSRP and above doesn't entirely pay for the tax that the original owner had to pay. In addition, buying today instead of waiting 2 years or maybe 1 year if you jump the line has value if the spec is close to your preference. With the number available today, nearly every good color combo is represented. On top of that, if you opt for a spec that was tailor made or atelier, you save a ton of time and travel. And the notion that the majority are at or above MSRP is erroneous. Anyone who has ordered a 296 GTS knows how much the options cost and can eyeball the spec and see it is below MSRP. So I think it makes a ton of sense to pay MSRP or slightly above for someone else's spec.

Sorry you are misinformed. I have looked at 50+ and I request the window sticker and they are mostly priced at or above MSRP.

I believe @599F1 is saying that for him it makes a ton of sense to willingly pay msrp or above (the ask) for the spec that comes close to what he is looking for. Easy transaction.

For someone willing pay the ask the numbers lose relevancy.

GTB are asking under, but most GTS are still at or above MSRP.

I am a buyer, but I am also generally one who comments with facts, not opinions. Just was calling you out on your "gut" versus my facts :)
