The first question is whether you should take delivery. I had a 296 and sold it, it was overall a good experience but just not for me to keep in the long run. Consumption value differs by person but I think generally you should not spend huge money on something that doesn't excite you. After all, there are lots of nice things to throw money at in life :).

A whole different topic is, if you do decide to backtrack from the order, whether it is possible to get a full refund and maintain a good relationship with your dealer and Ferrari NA. The refund-ability was discussed in circles, but it really comes down to your state law. Maintaining the relationship is more case by case, it really depends on your value as a customer, how desperate your dealer is to sell cars, and your expectations to be treated as a priority when future interest arise.

My purchase agreement (for an allocation) specifically states that the deposit is refundable until the actual car is locked down for build. I “only” have two Ferraris and I am not treated special. Basically back of the line.

I was told I would have a GTS in two years and now going on three. I presume others were placed ahead of me.

Considering the economy and that I already have a GTB- I presume I will cancel if they don’t give me an allocation for a VS. On the other hand- I’m not sure I want one.

What’s the appeal of the VS for regular street/highway driving? Just curious in case my SA is able to get me an allocation.

Scarcity- more unique. More hard core for those that want a more raw experience.

    Wow even more raw!!

  7. Same question could be asked of the "regular" 296 (either GTB or GTS).

Both are overkill for just about everything short of Leclerc on Fiorano's test track.

Not entirely. The 296 was engineered to be amazingly usable for the street and it is-despite being one of the fastest regular production cars ever made.
