Hey all - configuring a 296 Blu Corsa GTB and trying to figure out how much getting the rear diffuser in Carbon Fiber matters? I'm getting the front spoiler and sill kicks in CF, so will it look off without it? It it common to need to replace the rear diffuser from hitting it against steep streets? Does the non-CF one look good? Anyone have up close photos of both? Thanks
Just my opinion, but if you are going with the front spoiler in CF, and the sill kicks, then in order to complete the exterior look, I would go with the rear diffuser in CF. In terms of "does it matter", adding CF, or not is more a mater of personal preference. I have an F8 and went with all CF options on the interior since I preferred the aesthetic for the interior. I did not go with any CF on the exterior. If you are worried that you are going to bang up the rear diffuser and need to replace it, then I would definitely not go with the CF option - just too expensive to replace.
I wanted to do the same and skip the rear CF. I’ve seen one car in person like that and it looked fine to me personally. But my dealer recommended against suggesting it should be all or nothing on the exterior lower carbon. I decided to skip it all and focus on interior pieces I like. Ferrari had a number of their customer test drive cars configured like this with carbon front spoilers and side sills and the standard rear diffuser. It looked fine. These photo's of one such car were posted in another thread last year. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Carbons is obviously just expensive bling IMHO- no improvement in functionality. Whatever cranks your tractor.
95% of the photos you see from press cars have carbon front, sills - but no carbon diffuser. You will struggle to find a press car with the carbon diffuser. I think it looks fine without - and you won’t notice. For myself, I opted for no CF on the exterior because I can’t justify to myself the cost, and personally I think CF is quite overdone these days. Removing CF from the exterior simplifies the look and makes the already timeless design more timeless. That said, I opted for some CF on the interior as I think there is more opportunity there to layer up the materials. I went for CF buckets, wheel and centre console.
The carbon rears are beautiful. That being said, if you actually drive the car in any type of "enthusiast" way...it will eventually be scraped. The fiberglass ones can be easy repaired/repainted. Carbon, not so easy and certainly not cheap. Just something to consider. For a garage queen or something driven to Cars N Coffee only, carbon is fine.
