It’s very simple, you get told to buy a car you don’t want by your dealer and when it arrives you don’t want the car, you just take your loss and move on. I did.

I get the flip aspect, so just cutting losses? Didn't realize there were that many flippers I guess.

Not necessarily for that car. I needed to order the 296 GTS to get the 812 comp. Same for many others.

That and some still think we're in COVID and they can flip to make a quick buck.

Well only on certain models. Folks that are flipping SP3s for $6m are certainly winning.

are dealers letting ongoing clients flip SP3's for profit?

will you be able to sell your 812 C at market and continue?

Are you also getting a 296VS? Getting a 812 Comp and taking a hit on 296gts is still a big win…at least in my books.

We wanted special editions. I ordered GTB a few months after the July 2021 reveal.

Then in April 2022, I saw the GTS on launch day, and decided I would rather have that instead.

I met with my salesman and he said GTS would take about a year longer to arrive.

We talked about my future with the brand, what my goals were. I wanted the special convertible of the 296, since I loved the Speciale Aperta and Pista Spider.

Rather than cancel the GTB and put that same deposit for the GTS, I agreed to keep the GTB order, and place a second order for the GTS.

812C owners are free to sell after 18 months I believe but it drops off your profile and is certainly frowned upon by Ferrari, same for SP3.

I told them I might take a VS if I could take a pilot, they’re coming back to me. But I’d want to know price upfront and have it locked in. I’m not doing something open-ended.

The part that you are missing is that $100,000 cash is just not the same thing to everyone. And if you don’t like the car, probably best to deploy the remaining resources into something that you do like.

sure, if the car was a dud. But the 296 is a fantastic car, one of the best, according to many on this forum. sorry, could make sense on a small scale but not on a much larger one that we are witnessing.

The cabin is pretty small on the 296, at least compared to the equivalent cars that preceded it. That might be driving some of the exits. I know it prevented me from moving forward in the first place and I say that as someone who owned a Performante and STO for almost 5 years combined.

Ferrari site now has 85+ GTS for sale. Seemed to build to a high inventory level the last 30 days.

With the seat all the way back I felt cramped too, same when I drove the Roma and also the Portofinos I owned (although I have to say Portofino was one of the cars I have enjoyed most in the last 10 years). The smaller cabins are not good for me, maybe I’m getting old but it’s always a pleasure to get into my wife’s Bentley!
