I was given a final price on mine when it went hard but if for some reason the price went up 5-8% from that price, I’m out. I’m expecting the car come Nov. I won’t pay an additional $30-40k. I already thought $450k was absurd.

an additional £28k between ordering and delivery is insane imo, especially with the used values falling so heavily

The 296 is most definitely not a "new" Mondial either in style or performance. It is blisteringly quick and gorgeous to look at. Don't drive or buy at your now personal loss. YOLO

Ingress was challenging, egress was almost impossible if the roof was up. I hate haptic controls in general and really hated them in the 296 once I drove it. I thought the user interface on the 296 was horrendous; while that probably doesn’t matter on the track, it matters to me because I wasn’t going to track it. I thought the ride was fine, the acceleration was excellent, and loved the look of the 296 GTS, but for $500k I’d rather keep my Portofino.

I have reached out to the bosses @ H R Owen and also informally seeking advice because this seems to be blatantly unfair. Having had a read thru the order form they were supposed to inform me of any price increases and apparently these took place a few months ago or the dealership is trying to pull a fast one. I have nothing to lose by exploring my rights and perhaps the dealership may back off? Worth a try.

There are 148 296 GTB’s for sale on Cars.com (up from 142 last week)…which is not a functioning market. Cars keep piling up because sales are vastly outweighed by new listings. At some point a motivated seller is going to throw in the towel and smack a bid 20% below MSRP and the dam is going to break.

    Already posted this but
Sign final order at lock in $407k
Arrives 9 months later $434k window sticker

Almost all of that was paint price change.

So I got a call. Apparently they made a mistake in the proforma invoice and are nearly back at the price when ordered. I still believe that as per their own terms and conditions, whilst they are entitled to charge list price at time of delivery, said T+C’s also state that they are obliged to let the customer know. The first time I was informed was yesterday and as earlier stated the deposit was paid end of last year so they had ample time to share this F-Bomb! Hope that they will honour their own order form terms and conditions. Completely blindsided me. Whilst composing this message I received another call to say that price will be honoured as per the order so I am glad that we chose to seek clarification. As my late father used to say:
“Always read before signing because later on it can lead to tremendous indigestion.”

Glad that we read it more carefully today and even more glad with the favourable outcome. Thanks H R Owen for being fair, you have retained another customer! [emoji4]

Don’t feel bad…my 812 GTS featured a $52,000 bump from order to delivery! Most of that was a model year change ($21,251), but some was paint price ($19,405) and compulsory carbon side windows ($5,062). Fortunately, I love Ferrari and love the car. But I certainly did not enjoy going from $565 to $618. Ouch.

I just think on principal alone I'll bail. I love my spec. I built a great car. But If I execute a build spec and ROFR with the dealer and then the numbers change, that's a no deal. I couldn't do that to my customers.

Totally agree - had similar with the 992 GT3RS, dealer decided to add their "own" extra $'s. Bailed on the deal on principal.

Man, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to me. My car is going to be here any day now. Mine was supposed to be a $390k MSRP and I'm not paying more based on principle alone as well. Not even McLaren has ever done that to me. Every car I've ever ordered from them, the price was the price when it came in.

Unfortunately i think it’s just the norm for Ferrari. What is price is when you order and what the price is when you get delivery is often different.

Is this not the case for pretty much every single manufacturer? Happens with Lambo, Porsche, you name it. Not sure why all the whinging about something that is absolutely bog standard for all lux car companies.

    Not in US
Having had AMG’s , Porsches and now with a GTS about to be delivered 16 months after order with the same price I seem to think all these price issues seem too be predominately in the US market . I have many friends outside the US that think the same . FNA seem to be able to get away with this as it is such a large market.

I have never had another manufacturer do this to me. Not McLaren, not Porsche. And my friends have not had Lambo do that to them either. This seems to be only a Ferrari thing as far as my experience.

I'm aware of the price change on 9923rs and most guys I know inc myself got caught out. The few who didn't were in the very first builds. But then keep in mind when that increase was announced all these other cars had yet to go anywhere near into build so everyone had the choice of paying the increase or walking. Nobody did, and who would really as the car could always be flipped for overs as some were.

With 296, if an order is signed at a specific price and hadn't gone into build and then the price changed without notification prior too, then the onus is upon the dealer. For a dealer to inform the buyer their car is in build (or now built) and the price is more than previously (and formally agreed to), wouldn't be legally enforcible and in that instance the buyer would hold the upper hand.
