In Canada , both 296 and SF90 are subject to significant depreciation. To be expected. They represent the initial hybrids with the inevitable later models being superior.
You know how everyone has a dirty little secret? For some people it might be listening to Nickleback, or people like @Eric C its taking extra long in the YMCA showers. For me, it’s no matter how hard I try to fight the feeling or use my brain, I really, really want to get a Huracan Tecnica. I’ll probably die getting entering an on ramp because of the lack of visibility but the sound and looks just keep coming back to me. I need to get into a 750 or 296 soon because I end up getting a Tecnica
Get the Technica, or better still STO. Hugely rewarding drivers cars. Add 296 at a later stage if you still feel inclined - which you may find not. Haven’t driven 750 but those who have mostly prefer the experience over 296. Not a huge fan of 750’s appearance vs 296 although subjective.
Do it. I have an EVO which is basically the same thing and its a blast to drive. also love the dig on EricC lol
Agree. Evo is amazing as well. Spider for extra sensory experience but cant go wrong either way. All really deliver as drivers cars and have huge presence.
The Evo AWD is also compelling to be honest. It has rear steer and can actually put all of the power down. 0-60 in 2.7. with that said, everything in my brain tells me to get the 750. New car, better visibility, better braking, better steering, more comfortable seating, etc, but all of that is also above my pay grade so to speak. I don’t really mind that the Huracan is lesser in a way because the car is already super fast, drives just fine and I’m not taking it on long trips. The visibility is not great though.
I hear you. But the experience of driving with the roof off is special. Main reason for the GTS plus bonus of access to VS otherwise Idve passed on 296 tbh. Always loved Ferrari but im struggling these days to get excited over the direction theyve taken and the competition isnt helping.
I like the perf but it’s too old now. Can’t find a decent one at low miles and everything that is sub 10 I worry has had the TCU tamper with. I heard a report that over 50% of used Huracans may have had the tcu tampered with for mileage rollback
You are right about the 296. That is the only spider I have ever enjoyed looking at. Normally, you lose the engine bay view which I find a crucial part of the aesthetics. Also, the flow/curvature gets destroyed for the buttresses but that doesn’t happen with the GTS. That is the one car I would get it in, but because I live in an area where it’s only warm for a couple months of year, it’s not worth the premium to me anyway. plus for tracking, you can’t bring a soft top so that immediately wipes it off my list (obviously does not apply for 296/mclaren, etc)
turn this into a Huracan praise thread! Let’s hear the good bits about these cars. Turn me to the dark side my dusty brotha
STO is an absolute blast - If you can get one - you will not be upset!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
How do you guys find the drive modes of the STO? The third mode is just for wet driving right? So you have strada and trofeo? Is trofeo what corsa is on a normal Huracan or what sport is on a normal Huracan?
Poggia (wet), STO (normal), Trofeo (track). I think Lambo got it backwards as the rev limiter kicks in while in Trofeo, it can be an annoyance on track. Also, the three pops after lifting the throttle in Trofeo sound a bit fake to me. The STO is a wonderful car, though. A real treat to drive. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you look at the listings for all models here on F Chat you see most cars,no matter the model, being stuck and not moving. The people who have continued to buy in the last few years are not worried by interest rates and are true car buffs that indulge themselves , they often buy new as they know what they want . The second hand market is the opposite often people very price sensitive and people entering the market and still suffering from the illusion you can buy and drive an exotic and not lose . That is simply untrue. Buy exactly what you want , do not compromise on spec , enjoy it and sell it when you want to. If you cannot do that consider something that is not exotic and then refrain from pontificating about a market that has not changed that much for a very long time.
I decided to check used 296 GTB prices here in Canada today, and virtually every car listed (around 22 cars) has an asking price are at or above MSRP assuming typical options. Where are you finding significantly depreciated 296's?
