Time will tell. But the manufacturers know how to maintain their line-up's hierarchy.

    Correct.
It's obvious now as well that the NA V12 line from Ferrari isn't their top performing product anymore. Whereas in the past that always was (needed to be) the case. And kudos to them for doing so.
The V12 is now the heritage type Grand Tourer or powering a uniquely designed limited model everyone seems to crave for.
This leaves ample space for creaing either fun cars or high performing cars.
That is a great, great move.
Lambo is in a more difficult spot where the Revuelto/Aventador platform restricts the performance of the new Hurracan. They only have 2 models.
The big daddy needs to remain the big daddy. However I'm sure if you talk to the engineers off the record I'm sure they'll agree the new Huracan could be and should be faster; let alone be more fun to drive.
I mean look at that powertrain, a V8 twin turbo and hybrid and only such a measly pefromance with all due respect. This power train should easy trump the Revuelto's V12 hybrid.....

I am not sure about that. This V8 is stretched as much as the SF90 XX's one. The respective V12s seem to have a 30-40 HP advantage in both cases. Not that such a small power jump plays a huge role, but keeping in mind the heavy plumbing of a turbocharged unit, a N/A V12 is not that much heavier. For one reason or another Ferrari has decided to keep the V12 as a heritage motor only (I guess that fitting it into the back of their normal production mid-engined cars is difficult), but as you said Lamborghini has no choice but to respect the performance hierarchy.

I was actually referring to the new Hurracan's powertrain. It's an inhouse design from Lambo/Volkswagen that I'm sure will be used in other projects as well like Bentley. It should be much, much more powerfull.

So you are saying the 296 being faster than the SF90 in some scenarios is ok but this doesn't work for Lamborghini ? From what I've read, it's possible it will be very similar with the H replacement.

I meant that Ferrari has more models than 2. This cuts Ferrari some slack in allowing the 12Cilidri to operate freely. It doesn't need to be faster then the 296.
Whereas the Revuelto has to be faster then the Hurracan.

On paper, maybe. I think the Huracan was always known to be quicker than the Aventador. I can see this being the same. Although the DCT's balance that equation out.

Last evening Ferrari opened their gates for an evening event called, The Red Night. Normally you can't take pictures inside the gates. For this event...for some reason...no issues taking pictures. Here is what I believe is the upcoming Ferrari 296XX. Before you assume its a race car (GT3 etc) look at an image of an actual 296 GT3/ Challenge car vs the images. Look at the diffusor and other elements. Is this the new 296 XX?

seems unlikely, as the 360/430/458/488 VS cars did not have any "extreme" body modifications such as a wing.

thank you for the pictures! but which elements do you mean? for me they seem all like 296 Challange cars - the last/single pic is probably without Diffusor.

an official dealer told me: a couple of weeks ago they where already asked to communicate their demand for 296VS cars to italy.

they guess around Q1/2025 will be the presentation.
before the LaF successor will be presented.

    Let's hope it does!
The 296XX could use some serious additonal downforce. There is no way around achieving substantial downforce without resulting in extreme body work (looking at you McLaren!) or simply a wing!

  23. Yes you can.

    Just ask Gordon Murray.

Fair enough, but I want more downforce for an XX car; not for a 100% street car.

To me, the 296 needs the Pista/Speciale treatment. Aero, perhaps active, but keep it beautiful. Just make the car more engaging and raw. That's about the perfect car. The XX treatment ruins it. It's lazy to me. Just tossing a wing on the car. The SF90 XX isn't even any lighter than the OG.
