I have now heard from a couple of reliable sources in the UK that the 296VS will happen.Seems like SF90 is earmarked for XX programme but that does not mean there will be no VS of that car in the future as well. Guess I'll have to start playing with the 296 configurator.
Yes to SF90 XX, yes to 296 VS, but unless a rapid 180 degree turn of events No to SF90 VS….More substantial Assetto Fiorano pack in SF90 than the AF Pack in 296 took care of that. 296 VS will come about because of 296 Challenge.
It's happening, as according to the Ferrari Factory Driver I was speaking to during my recent 296 GTB test drive. Best get saving, I would estimate 2024, for 2025 delivery. As a sidenote, I was also told another 15 new car releases - 2023 to 2025.....
Just up the battery and the SW. Same as a tesla and the aftermarket dyson vacuum batteries. Once you have an electric motor this is pretty simple recipe. Take out some insulation and make bumper covers out of CF. Recalibrate suspension and add a few more flaps and gills which Manzoni will do anyway.
296GTS is sold out (110% i heard) 296GTB at 85% currently so why not bring the 296VS earlier? to get all the prepayments in - before recession kicks in. my 992 GT3 RS arrives in December this year. my 296GTS somewhere end of 2023. i think we will see the 296VS reveal mid 2023. first customer cars mid 2024. 296GTS was presented April.22. first GTS cars 12 month later or?
How much better than an Assetto Fiorano 296 can a 296 VS be? The AF has special livery, race suspension, etc. A decent spec on one is near $500k. I mean good god what's a 296 VS going to be? Decent spec near $600k? That's almost competizione level MSRP, the first one I saw at the dealer has a $672k sticker. Hell even an SF90 I've seen some under $600k
As long as people are ready to pay to buy anything the moment it is the last, they would be wrong to deprive themselves. The new clientele is disconcerting...500 k in a mass-produced V 6 that won't be worth anything in 10 years They know they can sell you anything...even if there was a tractor in the catalog, there would be 2 years of orders...
Hearing the 296VS is confirmed BUT one must have a regular 296 to get one (pretty standard from Ferrari). Will be post the SF90VS launch so - expected 2024 ish.
The (now established) fact that to buy a VS, you need the regular version, does not bode well for the actual specificity of the car... Very long time ago the VS could have been genuinely different (and therefore targeting different customers) but now it's just a more expensive version (claiming to be more exclusive) for customers with regular aspirations but deeper pockets. Probably a good business model but hardly compelling for enthusiasts IMHO.
296 Challenge ? I am assuming that car will be one of the 4 new cars Ferrari say they will release this year.
