Challenge owner just posted - not "I think" but what he was told buy 296.
With XX and 296GTS imagine I am in line - hope you get allocation.
There are collectors with 296 - next to LaFerrari - for VS and learned from XX.
Hope who wants VS gets one - zero fun seeing true Ferrari guys denied.

 

Got a call from my dealer today that I can have a 296 vs but not a spider.

I have a 296 gts and a 12C spider in order.

They would contact me soon with more info… exciting!

 

Oh yeah, you'll get one. I will too...enough cars and history. I'll shoot for the spider VS since I have the GTB coming.

 

The regular 296 is so amazing, for me to trade in, pay $650k and take the inevitable $150k hit, idk. This thing will have to be amazing.

 

They have never made a VS that wasn't WAY better looking than the standard, so I am expecting a lot. Performance is a given.

Let's talk spec -
Opaco White Mica blue carbon - agree fast road car, XX F80 VS track times will be very interesting.

 

Ooooohhhh. I like this game. I imagine there will be a TON of CF, so I may do the 2x2 weave. Thinking mica or pearl white of sorts as well, with a tricolore stripe. I wonder if TM will do the tricolore with metallic colors instead of flat.

 

The Atelier group moved to TM - will go with them.
They were seeing testing on transitional carbon incl wheels. Yes 2x2
ThinkSanu Silver flike lake but white possibly custom as they get very pricy on LE paint.
Bianco Onda Marina - blue dry CF half painted roundels blue white is my back up.
Mixing was hard "no" on XX so no stripe - seems like some got a yes via TM

 

I'm stocking with the 'fixed" Piloti livery that will resemble the GT3 car. In the obvious red as well to compliment my Pista Piloti.

 

Spec talk is fun. Interior I’m not sure but exterior either a triple layer red (like my 296 now but maybe a different one) or Bianco Onda Marina. I really like the look of that color.

 

I just got told that the coupe is available for anyone that owns a less than 5 year old car.

For Spider you need to own at least 3 on top.

 

I predict they're going to make 2000 coupes minimum. 1000 spiders.

 

Apparently the rear engine cover will not be made of Lexan but of Alu, non-transparent .. like the 812 Comp I assume ...

 

I did an Atelier build of my 90XX at the factory and will have transitional carbon everywhere, including the wheels.

 

Damn, I don't really like cars with zero visibility out the back.

 

Based on estimates I've seen floating around, Pista production was ~6k total (vs. ~3-4k 458VS). I would guess that Ferrari was planning at least ~8-9k 296VS before the car market softened. VS numbers have historically trended up in the modern era, but the car market is not what it was when Pista came out, so it is possible Ferrari will reassess.

A counterpoint to this would be that Ferrari only had one mid-engine platform at the time of Pista launch (488) but now has two (296 and SF90). So the correct apples/apples comparison of production numbers may be Pista vs. (296VS + SF90VS).

Getting a pista coupe wasn't that hard, feel the 296vs will be the same and at dealer discretion. Maybe a little harder to get the spider version. I don't know if demand is going to really be that high. How many guys are going to shell out $600k plus for it? Especially knowing, you aren't going to make money off of it.

 

Wow and smh! My spec is not locked, offered one transition piece - asked for wing in transitional or even CF blue - nope
So your wing is not black but color?

 

Oh no I hope not, I hated that feature on the 812C, makes the cabin so dark and then you get the awful lcd rear view “mirror”.

 

Called dealer - did a quick spec and yes, CF color wing wheels colored carbon. Ty!

 

How many guys - Ferrari announces production, that many.
