BTW, the 296C is so much better and faster than the 488 Evo and it does NOT have batteries. If you want a track car, that's the one.

Lamborghini Ferrari - repeat. Neither want to lose that head to head, Ferrari should however break some rules.
Audi is bringing back the R8 908 hp.
Still and exciting thought - which isn't a bad discussion and I would like to believe these factories listen.

ohhhhh, it's a bit tight for all professional pilot customers, it's well known !
For your information, most 296 engines come out at around 860 hp on the factory bench, and even one measured at 885 hp.

I think most people just don't want a hybrid because of the huge price deprecation on hybrid models so far.

Funny the non hybrid car you describe sounds better to me in every way. i don't care about everyday road driving, cars built for that are bland and basicaly Gt cars the lux handbag of men, is that really what a small Ferrari is for?

650 hp and 3000 lbs is more than plenty for track or road if you know how to drive and really want to use a "sportscar."
Perhaps were talking two models here, the VS with hybrid for those who have to have the "fastest" most competitive paper car. and something else without hybrid leather frippery etc for the customer base who actually want to drive dont care about magazine paper specs and now have no option other than a Gt3. Such a car might return some cred to Ferrari.

As for Eu rules, well there is the whole rest of the world. Seems like the euro manufacturers are going to die on the eu rules sword, or make ey rules cars and row cars.

But doesn't the depreciation come from the fact that people just don't want a hybrid?
... seems a kind of chicken and egg situation :D

If all they do is add a few hp and shave a couple of pounds, I’ll happily keep my GTB considering the msrp increase added to the already impressive depreciation. About a month and we’ll see. Dealer did reiterate the already posted criteria for the coupe and spyder, the latter which seems excessive.

I believe it will have the lifter, as it was already an item on the 488 Pista.

The Pista drives better when driving hard. The extra weight of the 296 is felt badly once at ten tenth's..

But no one drives like that, very few can. For a street car, the 296 is a monster. Only problem is that is should have been 300k not 400k.

See my definition of what makes a track vs road car. Qualification 1, can I afford to bin it and repair it. 10/10 has a high degree of risk. No one is 10/10ing their $500k Pista or $500k 296.

More prone to depreciation? I think that relates to unknowns. Performance is superior. We pay exorbitant prices for marginal increases in performance all the time- in fact- it’s always been that way. I am now purchasing an almost new 296 for a little more than a 458, 488, F8. I can purchase an annual extended warranty for less than $3,500 per year- under $7K for two years. The 296 is vastly superior to all the other mid engine 8c cars- it’s not even close. Sure- the haptics are annoying. And the car is modern and a blast. These cars are now around $300K after negotiations- I know as I have been playing the field.

We are at in interesting moment- One can have there pick of a vast number of 296 coupes- virtually new at deep discounts upon the eve of new cars becoming vastly more expensive. It’s your money…

Regulations are only getting tighter- not good for sound as we keep moving into the future. I think the car will have a smaller bump in HP with less weight and a more aggressive set up. Don’t forget- The Speciale did not sound better than the 458 and that was before the entire GPF nonsense .

For those that want real track driving cars with good road driving abilities there is the manual Porsche GT3- preferably the 991.2. For those that want more road car with more excitement/ “event”- there are the Ferraris. Better to have both. IMO.

It would be objectively slower. Worse is subjective.

Depends on whwere you live but it's doable. Not cheap but doable.
The biggest downside would be on a personal level; getting in and out a Challenge is quite the 'challenge'; it's not elegant to say the least. Oh and forget about taking your spouse for a drive!

Unfortunately each and every discussion about sound is not relevant anymore unfortunately. The EU has very strict sound restrictions that are more strict each and every year. Ferrari is an EU brand and thus has no choice. You either keep stock or go aftermarket; no way around it.

It will be hybrid; heard this from various people that have seen the car. Expect mild power increases but more wings and flaps. Kinda like a 296XX.

You mean the cockpit is very small for drivers? That I can atest too as I've put my order on hold. It's simply too small for me due to the rollcage.

That 800-ish hp means the 296 has a total hp of nearly 1000hp! That's a mind blowing difference.
